View Full Version : Christ In Egypt: The Horus-Jesus Connection

Now, I'm sure I'm going to push some people's buttons here because of my firm belief that the story of Jesus is clearly just a mythological tale filled with metaphors. The Jesus Myth theory, at first, was unpopular at one time, & still pulls in controversy as of today. But the people that are finally realizing the connections understand that once you start getting the story going, the curiosity takes over & you start yourself on a new journey of truth that you would've never thought was true. So let's begin with the connections. Please understand that these are rough connections & to only get the complete story of it all then you'll need to purchase D.M. Murdock's (Acharya S.) new book called "Christ in Egypt: The Horus-Jesus Connection". But as of right now, I'm going to give you pictures to start the connections going.

Horus, Sun of God

Anyone can recognize the picture you see below. This is Jesus who plays a huge role throughout the christian bible. Notice the sun wrapped around his head. Usually, this would represent divinity in christian worship. But the sun disk around the head could also perceive as the worship of a sun. A Son of God, or a Sun of God?

http://i25.tinypic.com/mt8r38.jpg

Now, the pictures you see below here show clearly how Horus was considered as a Sun God. Along with a sun disk, not wrapped around his head, but above his head, which represents the form of god he is termed to be. You can also see where he is clearly worshipped as this Sun God as well as Jesus was worshipped as the Son of God throughout the bible.

Horus versus Set

Now, anyone with a clear mind of history knows that the story of good vs evil, & dark vs. light, has always ruled the ancient lands for centuries & even longer. To this day we still go on about this ancient told story by representing good with Heaven, & bad with Hell. Jesus versus Lucifer was always the huge climatical tale for those that worshipped the story. It's even come to make some really kick ass movies to represent that known story. Well, I for one find it a little curious on how far that type of story goes back, & yet we perceive the christian story as truth while the others are just false claims.

Below we see the battles between Horus & Set. A lot of people would come & say, "wait, the story was told that it was Osiris & Set that went at it". Yes, you're correct on that statement. But the thing that a lot of people fail to understand, & really the internet is too logged up to tell you straight up, is that Osiris & Horus have always been perceived at certain times as the same. There were even stories given out where Horus & Osiris was together as one being. This was known as the two-headed Horus. So, when one looks for the parallels between Horus & Jesus, try searching Osiris also, it'll help your search a lot easier.

Born on December 25th

Now, this is where you'll need to purchase the book to get the complete story here to show you how Horus was indeed born on December 25th, or at least perceived that way. But here I'll give out a picture that shows a rough representation of the story. The picture below represents Isis & Nephthys holding the husband of Isis, not to confuse you as him being the father of Horus since Isis was perceived through the virgin mother of Horus. Now, this is a later picture given which represented the earlier picture of Isis & Nephthys holding a baby sun over the Life-Giving Ankh, which represented the Winter Solstice.

http://i27.tinypic.com/rh8pis.jpg

The Virgin Isis

Now, there's been plenty of controversy on this claim of Isis being a virgin during the birth of Horus. Well, let's first start off by getting away any confusion further on. There were many ways that Osiris was brought back through life. There were stories of Horus himself healing Osiris, which allowed Horus to become Osiris. Then there was Anubis bapitizing Osiris, which we'll get there in a just a minute, bringing Osiris himself into his new life. But, there was also the story of Isis the virgin mother giving life to Horus. The picture I give below shows Isis hovering over Osiris, which she conceives Horus from it. Showing clearly that no father was put into the use of the birth of Horus, allowing Isis to fulfill the description of being the virgin mother.

http://i27.tinypic.com/2468m1f.jpg

And, of course, we can see clearly that Isis was the mother of Horus, as Mary was the mother of Jesus. Remember all those pictures of Mary holding baby Jesus as Mary is suckling Jesus? Well, the same can be given to Isis & baby Horus as well.

http://i27.tinypic.com/2n65fth.jpg

The Three Kings

Now, everyone knows the story of the three wise men or the three kings coming upon Jesus' birth with the gifts given to him under worship. Now, a lot of people say this is untrue because they say there is no evidence to point that there were three of them, only that three gifts were given. But, the point of the matter is that three gifts would represent the worship by three kings or wisemen, despite there may being more than three there. And so, I give this picture below to represent the two-headed Horus as you can see being led by someone, as he is followed by three celestial beings with stars upon their heads. Representing the three star kings or wisemen told based on the christian story, but earlier represented through the story of Horus.

http://i26.tinypic.com/2yxr9ck.jpg

The Child Savior

The story of Jesus in the bible really gives out a rough history, for it tells that the beginning of the savior was of age 12, & then all of a sudden goes to age 30. Well, since Jesus was perceived as a child savior, so was Horus as well. Here, I give a picture of Horus the "Savior" with the sidelock of childhood.

http://i27.tinypic.com/29x407.jpg

Anup the Baptizer

Now, this was the very controversy that led many scholars to try & debunk the documentary called Zeitgeist, because through their studies they could never find the being called Anup anywhere through the egyptian scriptures. And since then, many have perceived that the story was debunked & found completely false. What these scholars & "debunkers" fail to understand is that Anup was one of the many names for Anubis, who was clearly a well known character within egyptian scriptures. If these scholars would've done more research on Anubis, I'm sure they would've found what they were trying to NOT look for. So here, I'll give you a picture of Anubis purifying & baptizing Osiris (remember the Osiris/Horus connection).

http://i27.tinypic.com/14cthfr.jpg

The Twelve Followers

Here, the controversy also gained from the many scholars that tried "debunking" the claim of Horus containing twelve helpers. Well, the thing that they failed to understand is that egyptian scripture contained, well known, what they called the Twelve Helpers. There were many scriptures that contained of them, such as Ra on a boat being led by the Twelve Helpers. So, here I give you the picture containing Horus along side with the Twelve Helpers. This puts in the connection of Horus & his Twelve Helpers with Jesus & his twelve diciples.

http://i31.tinypic.com/25qqh61.png

Performing Miracles

Now, to give out the other story of the resurrection of Osiris, I'll give you the picture describing Horus resurrecting the deceased Osiris using the Cross of Eternal Life. Giving Horus the rightful description as the miracle healer.

http://i29.tinypic.com/o09btg.jpg

Also, here I show Horus also with baptizing powers as well.

http://i25.tinypic.com/2ci6y41.jpg

Horus Crucified

A lot of scholars still believe that there was no sign of any form of crucified Horus within egyptian scriptures. Again, here I'll point out the lazyiness with their investigative skills & show you a picture of Horus in the sky within the Criciform. This clearly gives an accurate description given in Deut. 33:27, "The eternal God is your dwelling place and underneath are the everlasting arms."

http://i29.tinypic.com/2h2mtlj.gif

The Zodiac Connection

To me, this is a pretty neat parallel which can be found clearly by looking pictures of Jesus & his twelve diciples & compare it to the zodiac wheel. Here, I'll give you the picture of an egyptian zodiac wheel & the picture of the last supper containing Jesus & his diciples. Notice first off that both the Sun & Jesus are in the middle of the picture, clearly showing the connection again between the sun (horus) & Jesus. But also notice what the beings are in the middle of. The sun is within the middle of 12 signs which represent the seasons & months through time. Jesus is the middle of all twelve diciples. To also give a clear comparison, look how the beings & diciples are sectioned off. On the zodiac wheel, the season beings are sectioned off to three beings in 4 parts. Three on top left, three on top right, three on bottom left, & three on bottom right. If you look at the last supper painting, you notice the same thing being done. The diciples are sectioned off to three people in 4 parts.

P.S.: Move this to where ever you feel it must be moved to. I'm only posting it in the politics section for two reasons. 1) because there are more people viewing this section, & this belief needs to be known more, & 2) because I have no idea where else to put this topic in.

I've seen this before, and I think it's largely a sack of horse crap. I wish it were true, so that more people would open their eyes to the falsehoods of religion, but alas, I think it's false. And the idea that the words 'son' and 'sun' indicate a relationship between the two religions is sad. Sure their homophones... in English. Not in the original languages in which the two religions were formed in.

It's not the connection of 'son' & 'sun', but rather just a nifty similarity. But the main focus is that there is no evidence towards the existence of a man named Jesus, & if one really looks at the connections between Horus & Jesus, then you'll start to realize that they are of the same person. Fuck zeitgeist, I feel that movie ruined it when Peter Joseph decided to release an unedited version at first which had many errors to begin with. Read 'Christ in Egypt: A Horus-Jesus Connection' & you'll see that there is more truth to this than you may think.

We even have important archaeologists (http://freethoughtnation.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=262:archaeologist-endorses-christ-in-egypt&catid=47:astrotheology) that are saying the same thing.

Zeitgeist The Movie managed to not hit an open goal. Christianity is obviously a syncretic religion. But I have never heard about Horus twelve disciples. Where is the source?

They've tried in numerous documentaries to draw correlations, such as Osiris having been resurrected and also having twelve disciples, but in all my studies of mythology seldom have I ever seen most of the evidence provided by these narratives. In fact lots of (religious and non-religious) biblical historians and comparative religion scholars remind us not to confuse the themes or contexts in which these seemingly similar characteristics in any two religious figures are found.

Not saying religion doesn't have its large share of crap in it, don't get me wrong, but pointing at just one polytheistic religion so far away from the foundations of Christianity without identifying geographic cultural trail and not even trying to refute the secular historical evidence of the christian movement makes the atheist community look bad.

On the origins of Christianity I think from a ‘Marxist’ perspective if you like this has been done before.

It started I suppose with work by Bruno Bauer and David Strauss

Wiki entry with no comment by myself;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruno_Bauer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruno_Bauer)

That led to Feuerbach’s ‘Essence of Christianity’ which at the time was highly influential on Karl and Fred.

(And the following are cut and pastes of ‘material I prepared earlier’ hence the sense of a lack of continuity);

They also had thought, following on from Feuerbach’s ‘Essence of Christianity’, that the basic underlying value systems in Christianity fulfilled and provided a kind of escapist and fantasy outlet or expression for innate socialist or social feelings.

With the kind of ideas of ‘brotherly love’ and from each according to ability and to each according to need as expressed in Acts and sometimes cited as the source of that famous statement.

Acts 2;44-5

And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need.

There was an article by Engels ‘On the History of Early Christianity’ 1894

http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1894/early-christianity/index.htm (http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1894/early-christianity/index.htm)

The idea was also expressed by Marx in a letter to Ludwig Feuerbach in 1844

but I am glad to have an opportunity of assuring you of the great respect and — if I may use the word — love, which I feel for you. Your Philosophie der Zukunft, and your Wesen des Glaubens, in spite of their small size, are certainly of greater weight than the whole of contemporary German literature put together.
In these writings you have provided — I don't know whether intentionally — a philosophical basis for socialism and the Communists have immediately understood them in this way.
The unity of man with man, which is based on the real differences between men, the concept of the human species brought down from the heaven of abstraction to the real earth, what is this but the concept of society!

Two translations of your Wesen des Christenthums (http://www.revleft.com/reference/archive/feuerbach/works/essence/index.htm) (The Essence of Christianity) one in English and one in French, are in preparation and almost ready for printing.

http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1844/letters/44_08_11.htm (http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1844/letters/44_08_11.htm)

It needs to be borne in mind that Early Christianity was considered to be a ‘spontaneous working class’ movement as opposed to a doctrine created by the ruling class to keep the masses under control.

They, starting with the revisionist St Paul, obviously quite quickly turned it into that later on as Stalin did with Marxism.

Again the idea being that ‘socialist’ ideas or ‘feelings’ had been transferred into a metaphysical realm or expressed as such and that Feuerbach had brought it back down to reality by recognising that that the

‘Christian god is only a fantastic reflection, a mirror image, of man.’

http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1886/ludwig-feuerbach/ch03.htm (http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1886/ludwig-feuerbach/ch03.htm)

Stating what might be obvious that the kind of god you believe in is a reflection of your own set of value judgements.

The idea is put more clearly in Star Trek, a case of blatant shameless plagiarism from Engels Ludwig Feuerbach and the End of Classical German Philosophy Part 3.

Or;

‘Ferengi god is only a fantastic reflection, a mirror image, of Ferengi’

Religion

The Ferengi concepts of the afterlife are a mirror of their pursuit of wealth in life. When a Ferengi dies, he is said to meet the Blessed Exchequer, who reviews the financial statements of that Ferengi's entire life. If he earned a profit, he is ushered into Ferengi heaven: the Divine Treasury, where the Celestial Auctioneers allow him to bid on a new life. Ferengi who were not financially successful in life are damned to the Vault of Eternal Destitution.

When a Ferengi prays or bows in reverence, he holds his hands in a bowl shape with his wrists together. A typical Ferengi prayer begins with this phrase: "Blessed Exchequer, whose greed is eternal, allow this bribe to open your ears and hear this plea from your most humble debtor." As is typical, this is accompanied by placing a slip of latinum into a small statue made in the Exchequer's likeness.

Ferengi also make regular pilgrimages to Earth's Wall Street (http://www.revleft.com/wiki/Wall_Street), which they view as a holy site of commerce and business.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferengi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferengi)

There is an excellent site for information on Christianity one page of which is linked below.

http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/richard_carrier/NTcanon.html (http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/richard_carrier/NTcanon.html)

Shortly after the Essence of Christianity Stirner basically wrote a rebuttal of Feuerbachs position with his ‘Ego and His own’ and, depending on how you want to interpret it, that selfishness was rational and the non idealistic and materialist position.

Something they basically accepted and which led to the ‘German Ideology’.

Of course, Jesus was a Jew and there are many schools of thought that say Judaism itself had its origins in the monotheism that emerged in 18th dynasty Egypt. The New Testament narrates that after his birth he was taken to Egypt where he would be safe and then we don't hear much about him until his adulthood really.

On the one hand there has been a definite "mythology" of Jesus created - Christology if you like. On the other hand any analysis of the sources has to take into account the books and scolls that are not part of the authorised canon, that which has been lost and also that the Judaism of the time was probably not like the rabbinical Judaism we know today. Another thing you need to take into account is that seeing as most of the New Testament was written in Aramaic and then Greek and has been translated and re-translated many times there are a hell of a lot of problems with interpretations thereof. I have seen Jewish version of Jesus, Buddhist versions of Jesus, Hindu versions of Jesus and so on. Everyone seems to be able, in one way or another, to link Jesus somehow to something else. The similarities with the mysteries of Horus are striking however and I would recommend you look into the Egyptian origins of Jesus' own religion, i.e. Judaism, if you are interested.

Moved to "Religion".

Zeitgeist The Movie managed to not hit an open goal. Christianity is obviously a syncretic religion. But I have never heard about Horus twelve disciples. Where is the source?

Well, let's start quoting people here first:

"...the sun of the lower hemisphere took more especially the name of Osiris. Its companions & deputies were the twelve hours of the night personified as so many gods, at the head of which was placed Horus, the rising sun itself..." ~Francois Lenormant, Chaldean Magic: Its Origins and Development (83)

"[Osiris's] twelve companions were supposed to be the signs of the zodiac; like the twelve men who bore his ark, or six twelves who conspired, & the same number who carried his body." ~ James Bonwick, Egyptian Belief and Modern Thought (175)

"The Ritual shows us how the apostles were established on the same foundation, beginning with two brothers, who were followed by the four brethren, the cycle being completed by the twelve in the fields of divine harvest.... The four brothers of Horus = the four brothers of Jesus. Amsta, Hapi, Tuamutef, Kabhsenuf = James, Joseph, Simon, Judas. At a later stage, the followers in the train of Horus are the twelve who are his harvesters in the cornfields of Amenta....

"The twelve with Horus in Amenta are they who labour at the harvest and collect the corn (otherwise the souls) for Horus. When the harvest is ready "the bearers of sickles reap the grain in their fields. Ra says to them, on earth as bearers of sickles in the fields of Amenta, "Take your sickles, reap your grain" ("Book of Hades," Records, vol. 10, 119). Here the labourers who reap the harvest in Amenta are the object of propitiatory offerings and of adoration on the earth, as the twelve disciples of Horus, son of Ra, the heavenly father. And this was ages before the story was told of the twelve fictitious harvesters in Galilee." ~Gerald Massey, Ancient Egypt: Light of the World (I, 864)

This kind of information is really hard to find within computerized encyclopedias or mainstream books, but really, the association of the 'sun god' with 'the twelve' really just constitutes a common motif, based on both the months of the years & the 12-hour divisions of day & night. 'The Twelve' is used within many other cultures as well, including the 12 Olympian gods of Greece, as well as those of the Romans, along with the 12 adventures of Gilgamesh, the 12 labors of Hercules & the 12 Tribes of Israel, all which symbolize the months of the year &/or the zodiacal signs, in which can said the exact same thing with the 'Christian Twelve'.

If one was to look at what is known as 'the Ennead', which usually consists of a group of eight or nine Egyptian gods, there were also 12 as well:

"The Ennead does not necessarily include nine gods, strange as that may seem. We have lists of the gods that include up to twelve." ~Horsley, 66

It is also apparent that, if you were to read The Histories (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Histories_(Herodotus)) by Herodotus you would notice him discussing the Egyptian version of "Heracles" or Hercules as "one of the twelve gods." When he was with Egyptian priests at Heliopolis, he stated:

"...They also told me that the Egyptians first brought into use the name of the twelve gods, which the Greeks took over from them, and were the first to assign altars & images & temples to the gods, & to carve figures in stone." ~Herodotus/de Selincourt, 87

This had shown where 'The Twelve' began to become a passed-on adaptive story, which just became more altered as the years went by.

If one was to look at the various groupings of deities, in The Gods of the Egyptians or Studies in Egyptian Mythology (http://ia311205.us.archive.org/0/items/godsofegyptianso02budg/godsofegyptianso02budg.pdf) by Budge E. A. Wallis, Budge relates that in the Pyramid Text of Pepi II there appear "the Great Company of the gods who are in Annu," numbering nine,(Budge, GE, I, 86) again, a group called the Ennead. Later in the same text appears another company, or paut in the Egyptian, in which twelve gods are named:

"...Tem, Shu, Tefnut, Seb, Nut, Osiris, Osiris-Khent-Amenti, Set of Ombos, Heru of Edfu, Ra, Khent-Maati, & Uatchet; thus the Great company of the gods of Heliopolis may contain either nine or twelve gods." ~Budge, GE, I, 87

As noted, (Brunner, 15), Brunner names the 12 gods at Deir el Bahari as Osiris, Isis, Horus, Nephthys, Seth, Hathor, Montu, Atum, Shu, Tefnut, Geb & Nut. Hence, in the ancient Egyptian writings and images one would find Osiris & Horus with 10 others, totaling 12 gods. This theme of "Horus & the Twelve" in Egyptian religion also has been demonstrated by a relatively recent discovery of a large Horus temple with 12 rooms in the Sinai desert:

Temple of ancient Egyptian sun god found
CAIRO, May 31 (AFP) - Egyptian archeologists have discovered a 3,000-year-old temple honoring the Pharaonic-era sun God Horus, in the first such find in the northern Sinai, the antiquities authorities said Monday. Black granite and sandstone statuettes of gods and people were found inside the temple which dates from the New Kingdom (1567-1065 BC), the Supreme Council of Antiquities said in a statement. Horus, son of Isis and Osiris, is normally portrayed as a one-eyed falcon or sun-dial, but the council did not disclose which statuettes were found. The temple, whose dry-stone walls are from four meters (13.2 meters) to 10 meters (33 feet) thick, spans a dozen rooms, they added. The discovery defines the locations of Tharo [Tharu], a fortified city built by the ancient Egyptians at the eastern entrance to the route armies took from Egypt to the land of Canaan.

Please note that this is the original article that was first published on it through Yahoo News in 1999 but disappeared long ago off the internet & is therefore reproduced here. You'll find similar articles of the temple, though not as much detail are explained within it & usually only mention Horus a couple times, stating that it was the first temple of the New Kingdom ever discovered in the Sinai. ("Prehistoric fortress in Egypt excavated (http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal/uncategorized/prehistoric-fortress-in-egypt-excavated_10054288.html).")

If one was to look at the seventh hour as found in the tomb of Seti/Sety/Sethos I (13th cent. BCE) at Thebes, it is remarked by Budge:

"On the right of the Boat of Afu-RA, & facing it, are Horus, & the twelve gods of the hours, who protect the tombs of Osiris, & assist RA in his journey..." ~Budge, EHH, III, 85, 153

The picture that I presented, which I will provide again below, which shows Horus enthroned before the Twelve, which is the Seventh Hour of the Amduat, can be found by reading "The Ancient Egyptian Books of the Afterlife (http://www.amazon.com/Ancient-Egyptian-Books-Afterlife/dp/0801485150)" by Erik Hornung.

http://i49.tinypic.com/33a9ndh.png

There is much more that can be shown that shows evidence of Horus & the Twelve, along with many other scriptures, much older than the Christian Texts, that describe 'the Twelve' as well. If there's any writings I'd recommend for you to read about it would 'The Gnostic 12', 'The Fishers of Men', 'The Book of Gates' (sometimes referred to as 'Book of the Portals'), & 'The Book of Amduat'. So I hope you got enough info to dwell upon for now.
