Because shouldn't Marxism be democratic anyway?

Is this something like Democratic Socialism with Marxist influences? I can't possibly imagine it meaning anything else.

Marxism as a science studies the development of society and strives for the complete self-emancipation of the working class in order to end capitalism and class society in general. Logically flowing from this is the fundamental democratic character of marxism.

Any "great leader" cult or regime on the other hand is a complete reactionary perversion of these ideas.

I think your friend has something confused, as marxism is by it's very definition extremely democratic. There is no other form of Marxism.

My understanding of Marxism is that it is a social system that is founded on a scientific basis of economic distribution of wealth. Implicit in this type of social system, democracy is an implicit aspect of social equalization.

*demo-cratic means that the people rules.
*in marxism power is handed over to the people.
->Thus marxism is democratic.

Yeah commyrebel I think you should read more about this because as all the above have said, Marxism is inherently democratic.
Dictatorship and democracy are 2 sides of the same coin. There's always a class dictatorship, even when theres democratic rule within that class.
