How will the magazine be political if it's about science and technology?

I don't see how it couldn't.
That's like asking how art can be political. Certainly commentary on the subject can exist within a left-wing perspective.

Scientific socialism is political.

It's not something you'd put in a science and technology magazine though is it?

What sort of thing would you say, though? New vaccine implemented - a victory for the proletariat! I can't quite see what the angle would be.

Well, there are some scientific controversies with class overtones, such as whether public health crises like AIDS are best addressed through finding miracle cures or addressing social inequities that propagate AIDS. This also applies to more mundane stuff like nutrition policy, agricultural and natural resources exploitation efforts, not to mention things like environmental justice issues. Then there are also the need to expose class bias within certain fields of science, such as industrial engineering, that favor management.
Finally even in "pure" science a leftist perspective is needed, as for example in debates about the evolution of altruism.
