View Full Version : Locked out of MSN

It just occured to me that it might be a good idea to ask here about a problem I am currently having with MSN. I hope this is the right board to post it on, if not, mods, please feel free to move it.

Anyway, at the moment I'm in a bit of a pickle. For about a month now I have been locked out of MSN messenger and email. I have two MSN accounts, one under my real name for personal use and one of political purposes. I happen to chat to a number of revleft posters using the latter, so for all of those wondering where I have been, now you know.

The problem was caused when my password expired. I changed it to a strong password (which at least should have) included capital letters, punction marks and numbers. Stupid me though, it seems as though I punched in what I indended to punch in incorrectly. As such, my password has now been changed to one which I do not know.

I have attempted many times to type in my intended password and passwords resembling it to no avail. The obvious solution would be simply to answer the secret question and retrieve the password. Silly me though, I failed to set one up with the account initially, thus I cannot retrieve my password this way. An alternate method of password retrieval is getting it emailed to an alternate email. Stupidly once again, I failed to set one up when opening the account so as not to link it to any of my other accounts. Thus I cannot use the two methods of password retrieval offered by MSN.

Long story short, I'm looking for any advice or solutions on how to solve the problem. I do not want to ditch the email altogether and establish a new one, if this is the case alot of important data will be lost.

Thanks in advance,

Nic.

http://www.wikihow.com/Recover-Deleted-History-in-Windows

You might be able to find your old login cookies, if that doesn't work perhaps try a system restore first like suggested here: http://www.ehow.com/how_2270768_recover-deleted-history-windows.html, I don't know.. Windows keeps your supposedly deleted browsing history and cookies on your computer like a dirty fucker. Hopefully, you can work this to your advantage, perhaps if you get your old hotmail cookie back for explorer you can at least salvage your email.. hope it works. Never tried it myself..

ls, I'm not sure how this is able to solve my problem. Am I missing something? Have you done this before?

Has anyone got any other suggestions?

This may be an extreme, but could someone hack into your email for you? Know anyone with hacking skills?

No, as I have stated, I have not done this before. However I am certain that Windows stores your old cookies in the .dat files mentioned in the articles I linked.

Cookies are used to identify your computer to Hotmail, therefore you could log yourself in to Hotmail, if you were able to retrieve an old login cookie stored in those .dat files. I think that makes quite a bit of sense myself, you need to get a .dat file reader, this is described in the article, here is one http://www.acesoft.net/download.htm I think, download "Super WinSpy", in the picture it has a cookie reader.

You will only want cookies from login.live.com and mail.live.com.

Has anyone got any other suggestions?

Hacking it might work, also this USA freephone number could be called through Skype - 866-663-2273 I think it is a USA number, it's supposedly hotmail support......
