I saw the special when it aired on Al Jazeera, and I was extremely disturbed. I remember when the Department of Homeland Security released that report on the rise of Right-Wing extremism, and how the conservatives got all up in a frenzy talking about how they were going to be spying on conservatives now just because of their political views and all that jazz. But the report was really spot on with it's findings, which were supported by the documentary. Here is an excerpt from the DoHS's report:
[R]ightwing extremists may be gaining new recruits by playing on their fears about several emergent issues. The economic downturn and the election of the first African American president present unique drivers for rightwing radicalization and recruitment.
...
Anti-immgration: “Rightwing extremist groups’ frustration over a perceived lack of government action on illegal immigration has the potential to incite individuals or small groups toward violence. If such violence were to occur, it likely would be isolated, small-scale, and directed at specific immigration-related targets.”
Recruiting returning vets: “Rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to exploit their skills and knowledge derived from military training and combat.”
Gun-related violence: “Heightened interest in legislation for tighter firearms … may be invigorating rightwing extremist activity, specifically the white supremacist and militia movements.”
Not only is the rise of these groups disturbing, but the way they are active in the "Tea Party" movement is equally disturbing. They are feeding off of this conservative populism to promote their hate/fear mongering, and they are successful. Groups like the Conference of Conservative Citizens, which are connected to the "Tea Baggers," are openly racist. You don't even have to go past their first page to see the racism.
Unfortunately, this all plays into the hands of the capitalist class. As long as we are divided against each other they have nothing to fear.

I would have supplied my source for the quotes from the DofHS report, but the forum blocks my ability to post links till I have 25 posts.

Well I remember hearing Michael Savage calling for a return of the FreiKorps. Right Wing militias are growing and the advent of a black President made their numbers swell.
My only concern is that anything the liberals in power do will reflect on leftists to them. There would be no way to convince them to turn left at that point.

I think it would be fun to join a left wing militia. If the left did it though I think they would arrest us on some bs charges.

These fuckers go crazy everytime a democrat is elected but since there is a black man in the white house, they are gonna be super crazy. so we need a left wing paramilitary to combat the nsm revolution.

How would you go about finding out about them without asking pig questions?
I do want to note that while it's always bad when fascists get recruits, this isn't anything the US hasn't seen before. In the 1920s, the Klan numbered in the millions and they used to have enormous Asshole Pride parades in DC. In fact, Woodrow Wilson was in the Klan.
Still, best not to let things get like that again.

Doesn't sound like much fun! Though it reminds me of the scene from The Departed with the cast.

Don't be ignorant. WEB Dubois was a Marxist. And even if he WASN'T a Marxist, the fact that he was a noted civil rights activist at a time when blacks were still being treated like slaves makes him a hero. I doubt anyone here will ever have as positive an affect on society as he did.

Oh my God. Take your head out of your ass.
While Stalin had fallen into disfavor among most of the American left of that era, and Communism had come to be regarded as "the god that failed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_god_that_failed)" in the eyes of such African-American luminaries as Ralph Ellison (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ralph_Ellison) and Richard Wright (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Wright_%28author%29), Du Bois, apparently not believing reports of Stalin's purges and dismissing them as propaganda, persisted in his admiration for Stalin.[39] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WEB_Dubois#cite_note-blum-38) He was frequently challenged for his support of Stalin, particularly after Khrushchev's 1956 "Cult of Personality (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_the_Personality_Cult_and_its_Consequences)" speech which seemed to further evidence Stalin's purges. Having once, after a 1920s visit to Russia, observed that "Russia is the victim of a determined propaganda of lies", he remained persistently skeptical of American media reports regarding the USSR (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USSR); when challenged as to his beliefs on Stalin in 1956, in one instance he conceded that "[Stalin] was probably too cruel; but... he conquered Hitler."[39] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WEB_Dubois#cite_note-blum-38)
In regards to Soviet intervention in Hungary in 1956, the 88-year old Du Bois defended the USSR, suggesting that the Hungarian Revolution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungarian_Revolution_of_1956) was a plot of "landlords and fascists".[40] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WEB_Dubois#cite_note-kap-39) For this he has been criticized, by some historians, for allegedly succumbing to dogmatism; while he was "one of the great pioneers of anti-colonialist scholarship", he was "a headstrong idealist: he idealized Stalinism... He saw what he wished and needed to see, and thus he replicated the hard, domineering consciousness he condemned."[40] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WEB_Dubois#cite_note-kap-39)
Du Bois visited Communist China (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People%27s_Republic_of_China) during the Great Leap Forward (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Leap_Forward). He was questioned before the House Committee on Un-American Activities (HUAC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HUAC)) about his alleged communist sympathies. He was indicted in the United States under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_Agents_Registration_Act) and acquitted for lack of evidence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evidence).[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)] In 1959, Du Bois received the Lenin Peace Prize (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenin_Peace_Prize). In 1961, at the age of 93, he joined the Communist Party USA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communist_Party_USA), at a time when it was long past its peak of support.

Idiot. You know, socialism has enough enemies without picking fights with everyone who's ever picked up a Bible or shook hands with liberals. Of all the stupid, myopic, petty bullshit doctrinaire politics...
You know, you're going to sound a lot more intelligent if you don't use phrases like "latter day Obama" to refer to WEB Dubois. Latter day means later in history, not earlier. You're essentially suggesting WEB Dubois is the modern Obama.
