He's ignorant.

The "communists" in Cambodia were not really Communists at all. The Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot were totalitarian murderers. Many people claim they were Maoists, but this isn't true at all. No true Communist supports Pol Pot.

Also, you think Jon Voight is bad, I heard his daughter, Angelina Jolie, is a Ayn Rand Libertarian. :scared:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2arL11C7n1k WTF! Well I never expected that from him. I cannot believe that such a famous man can be so ignorant and pathetically deluded on live TV. I mean how can you honestly compare Obama to Julius Ceaser? And he probably thinks that we are the ones with out heads in the sands.

Let me put it this way, I think that he needs to go and work doing hard labour at a factory or warehouse for a few years, that would put him straight about how great and free his beloved USA/capitalism is. I think that he has totally lost touch with the working man and woman. But I suppose that it isnt that hard to do when you get paid millions each year and have people kiss your ass each day.

This is probably one example of why music and movie stars shouldnt really be allowed to become political activists. It doesnt matter where you are from, you will always end up loosing the common touch. Trust me, fame changes people, no matter what they have experienced in life.

Kind of odd on the idea of Angelina being a Ayn Rand Libertarian when her husband, Brad Pitt, is a socialist.

Even if she is, she's a bad one at that too. Being a UNICEF ambassador isn't exactly something Ayn 'sour old hag' Rand would have approved of

Even if she is, she's a bad one at that too. Being a UNICEF ambassador isn't exactly something Ayn 'sour old hag' Rand would have approved of :rolleyes:Jimbo Wales, founder of Wikipedia and a big supporter of open source software, is an Objectivist.

It depends on how one "defines" Objectivism though. For some it's just "Be yourself" along with the general "We support good capitalism that encourages the development of the individual" and all that, which characterizes Wales. When you just take Objectivism without Rand (as it were), it's really just feel-good "Use yourself to contribute to humanity, educate yourself, depend on yourself, etc." Not much different from the equally feel-good American Dream.

Randroids, though, are a different matter.

It's similar to Austrian Economics. You have "mainstream" types like Hayek, and the more "orthodox" types like Mises. Hayek failed in getting Austrian Economics to become mainstream (thankfully), but people viewed him as rational compared to Mises. People like Wales are basically what happens when an Objectivist isn't an asshole and tries to integrate into the rest of society.

... Brad Pitt, is a socialist.What?

Brad Pitt, is a socialist.
I don't have enough posts to provide a link -

type
'Brad Pitt Responds to Socialism in America'

into youtube and see if he's a socialist.

The Vietcong? Didn't he mean the North Vietnamese? Even then. it was only a few hundred thousand, compared to 4 million on the American side. And most of the casualties in Cambodia were the result of the American bombings destroying agriculture and displacing people. Americans like to attribute them to Pol Pot, because Cambodia only starting really feeling the effects of the American bombing via famines once he took power. According to American sources, whichever government that took over afterwards would need to install virtual slavery in order for the country to survive. He also forgot to mention that the US tacitly supported Pol Pot under Nixon, tried to give them aid through the Chinese, and lent the Khmer Rogue full and vocal support once they'd been deposed.

Needed to get that out. Never felt the desire to scream at the television until Glenn Beck came on.

Brad Pitt is no socialist. His response on Maher was more of one of disgust. He said he's been to a socialist country (which one?) and calms peoples fears about America becoming socialist. Pitt is just a liberal.

Angelina though I've heard is a Randian Libertarian. Supposedly, (and this could BS like always) she had commented that she hates Obama and thinks he's turning the nation "socialist".

As for Voight, he is a crazed old man now! He's gone conservative, Zionist and capitalist out of convenience.

Anyways, why are we talking about this? This isn't Perez Hilton.

I would say that it's, most likely, Yugoslavia.
One of his first films was shot there.

Jimbo Wales is also happy with editing your article to say whatever you want if you let him have sex with you. He's certainly being himself, that is a reality correcting sexual predator. Seriously, fuck Jimbo Wales.

I did not know that Angelina Jolie was John Voights daughter. I didn't know John Voight was an asshole of the highest order either, but there you go. I feel informed, revleft.

What does it mean? I'm now doubly justified in ignoring the political rants of pop stars and actors.

Why can't we ever get a decent spokesperson for the cause of Socialism?

Instead, we get timid, soft-spoken, anti-Marxists like this guy. The corporate media must profile these so called "socialists" before inviting them on the show so that they can claim a victory for the statue quo.

The one thing that people need to bring up to these pro-capitalists douches is that we are not heading down a road to socialism at all. Is the state falling into the hands of the working class? HELL NO. THEN OUR GOVERNMENT IS FAR FROM SOCIALISM.

We are, and have been on this road for quite sometime, it is the inevitable conclusion of capitalism. This is FASCISM, aka, Corporatism. Big business+government=FASCISM.

Where's the working class liberation?! In which way is the government working for the masses!? IN NO FUCKING WAY AT ALL.

The elite continue to prosper and the poor continue to die in imperialistic wars for them.

...so in conclusion, we need some more eloquent, bold speakers to defend socialism.

Well dude, of course. It's Glenn Beck. These people are being cherry picked to make Beck look good and back up whatever he's going to say whether they intend to or not. Glenn Beck doesn't have any integrity, he's not out for truth.

Short of revolution the mass media will not put up a well-spoken ANYTHING that isn't a part of their agenda. Add to that conservative blogs and talk radio would be screaming, not to mention faux news.

Why does it have to be this new thing; corporatism? That's not even what Mussolini meant by the word when he invented it. This is just plain out corruption and the third worldization of the first world.
