I have been a very strong supporter of Communism for about 4 years now, I have learnt bucketloads during that time. But one thing continues to nag me ALL the time...
...I still havent read the Communist Manifesto.
I have looked in every bookshop in my city, and NONE of them have the Manifesto [For those that havent noticed, im from Australia]. Infact once when I asked an assistant about it, they went to check and brought me Mein Kampf. I dont plan on returning there again.
So im wondering if anybody knows how to obtain a copy of the manifesto in New South Wales/ACT? I know this is a pretty bold question but I really need to read that f*king thing already.

Do you need a physical copy, or would an online version work? I'd assume you would already know about those, but it's probably worth asking, especially as it's pretty short.

Thanks for taking the time to answer.
Well I hate being on the computer for too long, and I cant really imagine reading an e-book. I guess I can use an e-version to skim through it to find some quick facts.
I want to read an actual book though, then I will get more stuck into it. Reading stuff on wikipedia and such isnt nearly as interesting as reading from a book.

The Communist Manifesto can be found online, in its entirety, here (http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1848/communist-manifesto/). You can also buy it online at amazon, AK Press, ebay, etc...

when i was first interested in communism et al. i too checked my local library etc. good bloody luck. instead i went to the internet and found many various copies from various sources.
the book is not so long that it can't be read on a computer screen. but, then again, i have to say that having read it i found that (at the time), it was mostly a waste of time. i would not suggest anyone read the communist manifesto unless they wanted to, or are particularly interested in marxism. you don't need to be a marxist to be a communist, nor do you need to agree with historical materialism, or much of what marx wrote about in the communist manifesto to be a communist.
at the time i think i remember thinking that only about 1/4 was still relevant (i think if i could be bothered reading it again i would up the number, but change the word 'relevant' to something like 'applicable'). it just isn't relevant for most people in australia (or other developed countries) today.

Lol check out what whore (http://www.revleft.com/vb/../member.php?u=26954) said, bloody funny, and also somewhat true.
Hey conrade, 9mm, check out anarchist bookstores/libraries. Also go to a Left group's stall at any protest, or their branch. they would sell much merchandise.
Also read anarchist Bakunin to understand comrade Whore. Also read lenin's work on "the state and the revolution".

Hmm I havent tried them yet. I tried Angus&Robertson but they were the ones that tried to give me Mein Kampf instead.

My local library has like three copies that have never been touched. Unfortunately that is the entirety of their left-wing literature. x(
DId they hand you a copy of Mein Kampf to be smart asses? I really don't see how they could confuse the two..

I don't think anyone translated the Communist Manifesto into Australian yet.
EDIT: Go learn yourself some American

They gave you Mein Kampf? You should have verbally abused them.
It's easily available online but all the libraries (in Perth at least) over here seem to be pretty useless (i.e endless numbers of books on New Age bullshit but very few on subjects that matter) so I'm not surprised.
