Che Guevara: A Revolutionary Life by John Lee Anderson. I don't know if it's the best, it's easily the most complete record of his life. It's the best one I've read although I've heard there are good Spanish and Russian ones.

The only problem was that he completed it before Che's remains were exhumed, even though on the back cover there is a reference to the funeral in Cuba in '98(?)

hmm, I've also noticed several typos in the book. And at one point, they were talking about a letter che had written to a friend where che wrote something to the affect of "yes, I have two children of my own" ... when in fact, he had two children at the time by aleida, and one by hilda...... so he had three children......so, is this a case of guevara denying hildita? hmm..... it's interesting to ponder over ..... dunno why but I tend to notice the small things and dwell on them...... :)

I also just finished "The African Dream" by Che. While not an autobiography, it is the reprinting of his diaries about the Congo expedition. It gives you a great sense of his mind and determination.

I'll scan through my book this weekend and find where I read that. I remember a footnote that was added at that point, and it stated that aleida had given birth to their 2nd child, and that's why he said that he had two children........ or it could've said that aleida had yet to have their 3rd child...... either way, I will most certainly look for the letter that was in the book... :)

Im Currently reading Che Guevara: A Revolutionary Life. I have had it for a long time just never got around to reading it because the first 100 pages about the state of things in Argentina and Latin America can seem soooo dull! But once it picks up it is a really great book so far!

Che was a little bastard when he was a kid. Covering his enemy's parents ivory piano keys with shit (you know, the stuff Felicia obsesses over )
But yeah. You learn that Che didn't take shit from his subordinates. You were executed if:
a) you made defeatist comments
B) you betrayed the revolution (by informing Batista's military where they were camped out)
c) I forget what the third one is. Could someone enlighten me?

Che was born on June 14th, 1928 as Ernesto Guevara de la Cerna.
As for good Che biographies I would recommed Che: Images of a Revolutionary. It is fairly in deapth but the main reason I put it forward is because of the excellant pictures of Che throughout his life it contains.

I think Che Guevara: A revolutionary life by John Lee Anderson is the best. It's very very detailed although sometimes it gets boring especially in the beginning where Anderson depicts the political situation in almost all of South America, but again a bit of general knowledge won't harm anyway !!

I would say that if you are new to Che then go for the Andrew Sinclair one, it is just over 100 pages so doesnt go into much detail but give you a rough idea of what he was doing.
If you already know a bit then go for A revolutionary Life John Anderson, that is about 800-900 pages and is in great detail.
