Hello,
here in Belgium the left scene is actually quite pathetic. the only left party that has a little influence is run by incapable people and doesn't want any affiliation with the unions. also in my family and school (i'm still a student) almost everyone is apolitical or rightist. that's why i'm glad to have found other marxists to share ideas and opinions with.
i got into marxism through my interest in philosophy. it all started with getting to know Marx himself, but i quickly shifted to the more contemporary marxist philosophy of such thinkers as Althusser, Marcuse and Adorno. it is in this area that you can find my opinions. but i don't restrain myself to just marxist philosophy, my other influences are Heidegger, Lacan, Freud, Husserl, Derrida, Foucault, etc.

Welcome. You should support a foreign team however. If you care about decency at least ;).

Pathetic? It's huge and towering compared to the Netherlands
Welcome though, we also have a Dutch language section here (http://www.revleft.com/vb/nederlands-f45/index.html) where you are more than welcome to join us.
I see you count Derrida and Foucault amongst your influences, I like that :thumbup1: I'm particularly fond of Foucault myself.
I used to be close to Critical Theory and Adorno in particular, but moved away from it and it's association to the New Left and the advocacy of 'the long march through the institutions', mainly due to Foucault's thought's influence on me.
As for Lacan, I generally dislike him and at points he's been a pseudoscientific fraud to be honest, especially in his nonsensical criticism of hard sciences. Doesn't go for all of his work though.
