So I think this would be okay to post here. If not I apologize in advanced and I understand if the admins remove it. Basically every once in a blue moon (twice now I think) I have gotten into political discussions with someone I know on Facebook. We're not really friends or anything but went to the same church and jr high and high school. The person was in the Air Force and extremely right wing. The previous political discussion we had I was always respectful and considerate of his views. I personally don't care about them having their views since they aren't mine and I know I'd probably never get him to see things the way I do.

Well this last time on Facebook he had a message to "Obamaites" and I'm not one but responded because he posted a lot of nonsense. We got into a discussion and everything was fine. For some reason out of the blue he brought up abortion. Basically I said if you don't like it don't do it. I'm not going to play God with someone else's life especially some woman I know nothing about. I also would have mentioned that it's my labor and I own my labor and the fourth amendment (since he's so big on the Constitution except when it suits him not to be). He asked why his tax dollars should go for paying for abortions because it's murder and I asked what about people who are against war. Why should they pay for it? Of course him having been in the Air Force he got all holier than thou with that and talked about "security" and stuff. I bet he's for capital punishment too. He's against any sort of socialized national health care program so if a single or poor woman who wants to have a baby but can't afford it won't be as lucky as someone who can. Having a national health care program can help those women. I also was going to ask how many unborn babies do you think have died since the U.S. invasions and occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq?

Then he brought up that people can always leave and I mentioned how it's not any better when people have to go to neighboring countries like Egypt and Jordan. I mentioned that Al Jazeera has done stories about what happens to the people who do leave to those countries especially children. He of course repeated the lie that AlQida supports and funds Al Jazeera even though a few Arab regimes have banned the network from their countries cause they're critical of their regimes and do real reporting. The last thing he said to me before he removed me from his friends list was that I should be put on a terrorist watch list which is bullshit. He's a "tea bagger" supporter so that says it all.

So I just wanted to rant and get your opinions. I guess I expected more from this person. That he should have just respected that I have my views and he has his. I didn't try to change his views or anything except to point out when he was wrong about things. He likes to live in a bubble apparently. I'm not shy about letting people know I'm a communist and say so on my Facebook page so everyone who can view it knows I am one. He's the only one who cared and removed me. This person wasn't a friend really. My real friends know me and our relationship is more valued. Have any of you guys had situations like that before? Just disappointing.

Yeah this happens a lot to me, without them deleting me from their friends list.

For the sake of maintaining a level of respect for the people I care about I just stopped posting political stuff.

I do if I join groups cause it automatically does that but I don't have discussions or anything like that. My friends know where I stand and that's that. I've had discussions with three other people and still friends with them. One was trying to understand where I was coming from and not so much a discussion I guess you could say. I guess the person didn't like when I pointed out his hypocrisies. He loved to say how he was for the Constitution but he didn't respect me having the fourth amendment and privacy and he wanted to play god with war and my uterus. It was insulting how he said I should be on some terrorist watch list just because I watch Al Jazeera which is a well respected news organization. He was in the Air Force and they're more right wing than anyone. Once I talked with him and he said they taught him how to see "signs" for that and drilled it into them. He said if he didn't know me and my background he would have thought I was a Muslim. *rolls eyes* It's really pathetic. Oh and he's supposed to be going into criminal justice and he's already said he couldn't do that cause he's for torture. So hypocritical.

He's young and foolish. Lots of young and foolish people have excessive opinions of their own opinions. That's why the young are never given any power in this world. Someday your friend will grow up and calm down to become a good Republican and you'll grow up to be a good Democrat and hopefully you'll both vote in Presidential races and you will cancil each other's votes out.

Life is good.

For the most part I doubt most of them are thinking about anything beyond where to get the next meal, but if they WERE radicalized I don't for a moment doubt that the vast majority of them would be Communists.

Yeah, the last time I got in a debate with a right-winger I wiped the floor with him, then got a slew of death threats in return

" The time for arguing will pass an since surviving will be every man for himself these arguments serve as a pointer for those I run across who will be a prime candidate for my .223 healthcare plan as I head to the country for safety. Oh what a day that's going to be. "

"Its not a thinly veiled death threat its fuckin promise. "

So it seems to be a right winger thing eh? I was calm, cool and respectful but after he started in on abortion he wasn't anymore. Most of the adults on my Facebook are conservative and they really don't care and we're still friends and even have some good discussions. It was only him who said I should be on a terrorist watch list cause I support Al Jazeera lol. Of all the groups he chose them (I'm in groups supporting Malcolm X, Cuban 5, Henry Winston, Fidel Castro and he went off on a news organization lol).
