My friend had to file for unemployment because my owner decided to fire the entire staff of her store right before Christmas without warning them beforehand, and because she had no coming paycheck, she couldn't make any payments for her car/phone/apartment/etc.

Dole is the colloquial name for unemployed benefit in the UK.
I currently receive it.

I answered yes, because I attend a public, state-funded university

It is counter-revolutionary to scounrge off the benefit system according to a lot of "socialists". I currently receive welfare as well.

Are there actually "comrades" who still think that? Jesus, even the CPGB in 1930s didn't have a problem with the unemployed.

They had class politics back then though. They'd defend working class BUF supporters from evictions. They did alot that was worthy of respect.

Jup, till the end of Januari. Then i gotta file for another type of benefit (long story) which gives you less money and forces you to do crappy unpayed jobs.

IB or CB originally?
Bridge to work Scheme?
Anyway, I've been on and off it over the years since I crawled out of education, I was first prone to dossing initially, then working, now travelling, but I've spent a lot of time off benefits and unemployed as well as working in the gov departments that administer/deliberate on it and those that collect debts from it.
EDIT: Actually, any questions about the system, ask me, I'd probably know the official stuff and the internal reality of it.

Well it's called bridging to work, but in reality it's just crap-jobs which dont help at all. It's pure exploitation since the wage you receive is not minimum-wage.
Idk what you mean by IB or CB though.

South Carolina. He needed to give two weeks notice, which is why he's getting ready for lawsuits from said fired employees. It WAS a dick move on his part, especially since he knew he was gonna close the store down for three months, and decides to tell them all two days before he did; because in his words 'that's plenty of time to find a job.'
