my idea:
get a verry low paid job at a mc.Donald and use the money to pay for a room.
Some people who own appartements or even house sometimes rent 1 of their room to get some profits.
it will keep you warm for the winter.

I know. That fuckin' sucks. As many communists predicted when recessions hit the corporations start throwing people out of work, so there is no work.
The US recession, caused by deregulation, has increased homelessness in the US.
How is the recession affecting homelessness?
The recession will force 1.5 million more people into homelessness over the next two years, according to estimates by The National Alliance to End Homelessness (http://www.endhomelessness.org/content/general/detail/2161). In a 2008 report, the U.S. Conference of Mayors (http://webclipper.handsnet.org/2008/12/us-conference-o.php) cited a major increase in the number of homeless in 19 out of the 25 cities surveyed. On average, cities reported a 12 percent increase of homelessness since 2007.
Also, suicides are on the rise:
The precise reasons for the rise in suicides aren't yet known. But suicide rates have historically risen during tough economic times, when unemployment is high, suicide experts say.
William Parente, a New York lawyer, killed himself as well as his wife and two daughters in Towson, Md., in April amid allegations that he was involved in a Ponzi scheme. "He, through fraudulent transactions, basically collapsed the savings for several of his clientele," said Cpl. Michael Hill of the Baltimore County Police Department. "Even though we cannot say concretely that the cause of some suicides, even with a background of financial situations, are related to the economy, it is rare that we normally see this many" suicides that appear to be related to finances, Cpl. Hill said.
Also look into the effect conservative governance has on suicide. Usually conservative governments coincide with a rise in suicide rates.
I've seen an increase in homelessness as well. When I go downtown there were people sleeping on the streets, and I see poor people even in yuppie areas lying on the lawn and stuff. I haven't seen much of this lately as it's too cold and they have probably moved or are in shelters. I worked at a shelter and I talked to many homeless people. One got me into the writing of Stephen King. I've seen more homeless people at shelters than ever before. It's interesting capitalists claim homeless are all "lousy drunks" but I wonder how many ended up in desparation like our comrade here and then turned to drugs because they had no help?
As for minimum wage, I don't know anybody who can live on minimum wage, unless you have many ppl. in a house. Rent would eat up probably 50% of your income, which means your poor, you're not making a livable wage. Esp. where he lives rent probably is high. A government or a union job would be the best, but they're hard to get. He'd prob need vocational training. (This is why capitalists want to eliminate the minimum wage as then workers have to dedicate more of their time/lives to wage slavery and have nothing to fall back on, no economic security.)
Anyway, think of all of these people next time someone tells you to support the free-market.

I agree with dany, he needs to take in any job whatsoever now and save up some money before he can think of anything else.
I would advise homeless shelters as an immediate temporary solution while he looks for any job, and then move out to the cheapest apartment he can find (which will probably cost him more than half of his paycheck). He will be able to save very little, but he should still save as much as he can so as to have enough savings for an emergency and so that he can, in the future, gain more skills so as to try to get a better job.
Then, after a better job, he'd probably be able to save up and afford that little commune dream he mentioned.
