Yep. Made me realize even more that there's a varying Sherlock Holmes canon just as with modern comics.

The hanging. The real hanging.

Thought it was a great movie. Never thought the guy was using magic, but thought they gave it away tho those who thought he was when Waton tripped the Trip wire. Tbh, it would have been stupid if the guy was actually using magic. Kinda like how the last indian Jones movie went to shit when they decided to actually go with aliens.

I loved the stories when I was younger so when I saw the preview for this movie I groaned a little. But I did see it and liked it. I think once you realize it's not detective fiction but more in the superhero film genre, it's quite enjoyable hollywood escapism.

I like it even more since Robert Downey Jr. said that he played Holmes as being in love with Dr. Watson.

Spoiler: I'm glad they kept it as science and reason overcoming mysticism - if there had been a magic angle it would have ruined the movie for me.

Holmes was quite clearly infatuated with Watson. Watson took a more confused angle, as if he questioned his feeling for Holmes as unnatural. Never saw brokeback mountain, so can't really compare.

You can see how Holmes and Watson = House and Wilson.
