All of you say that kids who wear che shirts know nothing about him but you are wrong. I know tons of kids on my street who love che and what he did.
And most of them are liberals :) and enough of them hate Castro and Cuba...well actually...that is quite a stereotype of me.

that kids who wear che shirts know nothing about him
can you deny the fact that ignorant kids DO EXIST?!
nobody said that ALL the ones who wear that kind of outfit are ignorants, just that most of them are.
So you have friends who know who Che was, good for you.

What oh what are you folks talking about? Do you think that Che's image is forbidden for sale? Well, let me tell you, Havana and every other market and shop in Cuba has dollar t-shirts with Che's image on it, also little badges, lapels whatever you want to buy with your dollars, not with Cuban pesos though, get real you people Che's image is hard-dollar currency, chosen to be that way by his friends.

What I will add to my post above is that the hard dollars received in government "dollar shops" go into the economy and surface in education and public health. The reason for all this apparent effort for hard currency is of course directly attributable to the need to develop tourism because of the Soviet Union collapse and the continuing, illegal and immoral US embargo.

yeah, but if the product is being sold in cuba, the chances that the money is going to the cuban government or a cuban family is a lot higher than if we're buying che merchandise from a cappie busness trying to make profit from his image, to them he's just a face and a profit, to cuba, he's their liberator, there's a huge difference!!!
as for me, I use my che-shirt as a pillow, and I think that he'd like that... not because he's under my head, but because I'm not sporting his face of my chest

Ya can't buy a Fidel t-shirt in Cuba though.
Yeah, fascism, I hope you don't subscribe to that ideology.
These new guys certainly like casting blanket statements don't they. Isn't it ironic that in his post he's having a go at us generalising, while generalising himself. It's too much.

This "new guy" has married into a Cuban family, sorry if I sound patronising or generalising though my experiences are well below the facade that visitors see. Including with other families. In cities and in the sticks. I know enough about the system (good and not so good) to know not to post my experiences up on a worldwide public board, because I have a lot of respect. You can ask me a specific question, if I do not have experience or cannot post my answer then I will say so.
What I will say, is that I have seen a portion of Che's ashes, by introduction from a fine friend, an amazing experience. It was locked away in a cupboard with a bible in a small vial and there were another 39 like it. I'm looking for acceptance on this board for open debate, if you like. If not, no worries.

I'll repeat what I said on another thread. Somebody who knows nothing or next to nothing about che and is wearing a che shirt is just a victim of the society he lives in. Aa kamo said, if they are wearing the shirt you can talk to them about it. They are probably part of the proletariat just like us and are exactly the people whose interest we supposedly represent. Just being confrontational will get you and us nowhere.
This discusssion is getting quite ridiculous. Of all the injustices in the world a shirt with che's picture on it is what the modern socialist sees as the foremost issue.
Please tell me I'm wrong.

Comrade Junichi...how old are you...if you're any older than 15 and have a girl friend that is 13...i'll be pretty disappointed...and fairly disgusted. a thirteen year old...yuck. That is a baby. Rebal16, is your friend's 13 yr old bro or whatever truly communist or whathaveyou?...I know my brother hears me testify all the time and never take any shit...and he says the same stuff. I think it's just b/c he looks up to me. My mom says that he worships me. It's amazing though to hear a kid that's only 8 years old testify...and he tells me shit that he says to his teachers and classmates and whatnot when they say something ignorant. This kid is the youngest person I've heard properly pronounce and apply words such as bourgeoisie, proletariat, capitalism, &tc. He's a smart kid too. He's always stood out in his classes before he started...admiring me and mine words and whatnot. It's pretty cool. He'll talk about how the kids in his class are sheep and he elaborates on what makes them so... I guess it makes me pretty proud...but then again...since he's able to somewhat grasp what I say and stuff...I hope that he'll be able to fully make up his own mind and be fully independent in that decision like I was...well...peace.

I think sometimes that the Che tshirts can be a good thing. I remember when I first saw a Che image I had to find out who he is, and no one knowing who he is made me want to know even more. Either way I own a Che tshirt, heh, and a Castro one, people ask about the Che shirt all the time and I do the best to explain.

Sorry to say this, but many of this Che-shirted kids are just wannabes. I myself have a friend who claims to be a communist (just because I am), without even knowing what communism is. But I must agree, that quite many of these kids DO know about things (I'm one myself :D ). It is quite annoying when as I'm walking Che-shirted on a street, some old fool comes and asks me if I know who that person in my shirt is. Well, duh. And when I say "yes", they start mocking me and telling me how Che killed X people. And then of course they compare him to Stalin or Hitler. Well, at least I get good laughs, because these people don't know seem to know shit about anything. Or maybe they're just being provocative. :)

I have a che shirt but only got it AFTER i became a socialist, i have to explain to heaps of people who the person is on my T-shirt, some students (mostly fellow leftists) knew who he was however other said things like "wasnt he like Hitler or something", i dont know where people pull some of this shit from.
