Anyone got any predictions?
Here are mine -
Sports
* Either Spain or England will win the World Cup.
* Chelsea will win the Premiership, with Manchester United second, Arsenal third. Liverpool will fail to qualify for Europe.
* Liverpool will sack Rafa Benitez before the end of the season.
* To be relegated from the Premiership - Wolves, Portsmouth and Hull.
* To be promoted to the Premiership - Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Swansea City
* Manchester United will win the League Cup and FA Cup.
* Atletico Madrid will win the Europa League.
* Barcelona will win the Champions League.
Politics
* The UK General Election will result in a hung Parliament, and Labour will be on the Opposition, possibly opposing a minority Tory government.
* The Greens will get a couple of MPs, as will UKIP, but the BNP will fail to get any.
* Fidel Castro will die, and his funeral will be televised on Cuban national television.
* A former leader of either the UK or US will die this year. If it's Thatcher, massive street parties are held in towns and cities across the country, and after much public pressure, there will be no state funeral for her.
Internet
* MySpace will close by the end of the year.

after much public pressure, there will be no state funeral for her.You must have some kind of device that can read my deepest dreams:).
Unfortunately (and predictably) Regan's death led to the standard bi-partisan lovefest - although I think it would have been much more gushing and over the top had he died while Bush was still popular or during Clinton's administration. Regan's death did lead to a lot of great graffiti in the bay area though.

1. Many more unpredictable world events will happen (and with more frequency) as a result of the ongoing crisis of capitalism.
I think there will be more frequent face-downs between the big powers this year like the US-Georgia-Russia incident.
Israel will bomb another country.
The US will be bogged down in Afghanistan and this will embolden people in Iraq. In response, the US will widen the war with even more direct involvement in Pakistan and Yemen.
2. In the US, discontent with the political establishment (coupled with the weakness of a coherent left-wing alternative) will feed more strange conspiracy theorists and populist challenges to the establishment from both the left and the right.
Left-wing populist dissent will begin to assert itself a little more in the US (probably coming at first from some liberals trying to challenge conservative Democrats in local elections - like that guy who ran against Lieberman).
Public Education and public sector unions will continue to come under fierce attack and the state governments will attempt to break teacher and other state employee unions.
The right-win tea-party populism will also continue and probably take a more organized form, but will be more dominated by competing right-wing figures trying to position themselves as the face of the movement.
Immigrant scapegoating in the US will replace last years "death panels" as the vogue in right-wing hysteria.
The new student movement will continue to develop as a response to budget cuts and will build bridges with public sector unions and a grassroots challenge to neoliberal solutions to the economic problems will begin to develop.
3. In entertainment:
Hollywood will become more gimmicky (3-d, FX) and focused on serialized big-budget movies in its attempts to counter competition from other media.
Hollywood stars will become less important and network TV will downsize dramas in favor of cheaper in-studio shows with less actors and writers.
Music is going to be absolutely awesome this year - while big company sales and profits continue to decline there will be a new explosion of youthful music from the grassroots that the companies won't see coming like the punk waves of the past, the folk music scene, or hip-hop's entry into the mainstream in the early 90s.
The last year of "Lost" will have some bumpy rough bits, but the writers will pull it off in the end - many fans will be frustrated because their pet theories or pet mysteries will not be played out or solved respectively. But what's the fun of creating a mysterious world in fiction if you explain it all away?

All I can imagine is wars. I know, I'm pessimistic about that. I think there will be more war. especially in the Middle East and Central Asia.
Politically, I think things could probably get better and more people could become leftist. There will be some interesting music and entertainment and technology will continue to advance.
But the governments of the world will continue to engage in pointless, tragic wars. It will be crucial for the workers to unite in these times and end the madness.

Politics-
After some sort of healthcare bill is passed the teabaggers will slowly fade away in the wake of the 2010 elections. No conservative is going to want to become a farther right Ralph Nader (spoiler candidate).
U.S politicians will continue to be frustratingly predictable
Entertainment-
Mainstream will continue to suck
Sports-
Chad Ochocinco will sign as a free agent with the Patriots. You heard it here first.
Clearly I haven't thought much of the new year.

GOOD 2010:
Strikewave throughout Europe, hopefully pushing more people to the left. The papers in the UK will become even more fanatically reactionary. A smaller strikewave in the US. The Devil cashes in his part of the deal with Thatcher. Glenn Beck dies in drunk-driving accident, into a gorge so nobody else gets hurt. Left wing governments come to power in South America, hopefully unifying with Venezuela.

...into a gorge full of pillows. Beck gets up, dusts himself off. "I'm Ok," he slurs, "I can't believe it". But, the pillows begin moving. Not so fast Glenn, the pillows are full of angry bees that fly out and swarm Beck, stinging him to death.

Economy:
*It's gonna get worse.
*Most leftists and populists will still not know shit about it, and continue whining about how the crisis was caused by bankers being greedy (they weren't greedy during the entirety of the century, correct?) and the bailout was only done in order to make the rich richer.
*There will be further state regulation of the economy, without welfare reforms alongside. Perhaps the banks will be nationalized in a move to show certain Trots that it doesn't make much of a difference.
Politics
*The US will get further involved in Yemen, probably.
*50/50: Obama will have Arabs declared non-persons. 1% chance: As a result, he will be impeached and Hillary Clinton will become President. 99% chance as a result: She will outlaw abortion.

I'm guessing Obama will be killed in order to prevent the country from being a national socialist communist czarist dictatorship.

Good: Communism will win.
Bad: See last year
Ugly: Sarah Pilan and Glenn Beck over throw Obama and Create the "Free" American Republic policed by the Tea Bagger Milita. They then proceed to destroy the world due to utter stupidity.

Manchester United will win the League Cup and FA Cup.
At least one of these will not happen now. What an embarrassment for Man Utd.

nothing interesting will happen.
Tories will win the election and the british working class will be doomed to another 20 years of austerity, gloom, melancholy and reality TV.

Intelligence agencies will be rendered useless by information overload, as a result of the idea that technology will solve all our problems.
As a result, (multinational) terrorism and revolutionary efforts will become far more common. Iran will become a secular state, when certain groups are getting support from the US. Israel will lose more of its support. Pakistan will see more violence; military presence in Afghanistan will focus on the North and containment of the troubles in the South.
