Are there any good books out there written by Marxists or Anarchists that deal with the issue of finance in this day and age? The only one I found was The Great Financial Crisis by John Bellamy Foster. It's really good, but are there more?

Most of the books about finance capitalism I've read lately were written by liberals and progressives, and they mostly just document the consequences these investment firms have on society, they don't directly challenge them philosophically. A good book is When Corporations Take Over the World by David Korten. I like it and it's very informative, but it takes the usual stance of wishing for corporations to be more socially responsible and the like.

Any suggestions?

Wall Street, (http://www.wallstreetthebook.com/) by Doug Henwood. One of the study groups I lead is reading it. You should also follow Doug's zine and blog: http://www.leftbusinessobserver.com/

i don't know how many marxists specialize in finance per se, but there are many social democrats who attack deregulated finance or neoliberalism or capitalism (while oddly being personal advocates of capitalist social-democracy).

Check out Paul Craig Roberts or other article writers on counterpunch.org. The site hosts many articles. It is very left in its contents, but its contributors range from Castro to Anarchists to Nader to Left Communists, to whomever.

The ABCs of the Economic Crisis by Fred Magdoff and Michael Yates is another excellent find. It explains the economic crisis from the very beginning in the last major one; the Great Depression.

The Monthly Review crowd are very good at helping laymen understand the most complex of issues.

Quick question, do the bourgeoisie consciously make things extremely difficult for the average worker to understand? Things like finance, politics were always extremely difficult to understand until I went to leftist sources.
