Hey, first off im going to do a little introduction. Im a 15 year old Canadian. I only recently took interest in politics again as I used to be Conservative (I never really believed in it though). The thing is I was raised from an early age as a Canadian Conservative but I just never agreed with any of it... My parents always taught me Homosexuality is wrong etc. but the thing is im a bisexual. I figure as I didnt agree with any of the homophobic, prolife, capitalist B.S I was always being force fed the Left side of the spectrum would be a good place to start. I've always been interested in politics but changed views quite frequently. I was wondering what exactly it is you guys believe... I think I know the basics but if im going to get involved I want to know what im going to be supporting.

Welcome!

I was wondering what exactly it is you guys believeTo put it simply, the overthrow of the private means of production to create a stateless and classless society in which production is collectively owned.

Wikipedia is a good start.

Hi, welcome to the forum! :)

I was wondering what exactly it is you guys believe... I think I know the basics but if im going to get involved I want to know what im going to be supporting.
Short and hopefully understandable overview:
We believe that human history is dominated by class struggle. Now, in the present capitalist society the bourgeoisie (the ruling class of capitalists who own the means of production) is the minority which opresses the huge majority, the proletariat (the working people who have to "sell" their labour to the capitalists in order to survive). We believe that capitalism is deeply inhumane and a "negation of humanity", which causes (among many other things) imperialism (a stage of capitalism), many forms of crimes, racist and sexist discrimination and that it must - and will - be overthrown by a violent revolution of the proltariat against the bourgeoisie, like all throughout history the oppressed classes overthrew the oppressing ruling class. But after that they took the place of the oppressor, as the bourgeoisie did after overthrowing the nobility. In order to end this the proletariat has to expropriate the capitalists, seize controll of the means of production and abolish private property of means of productions and soil (and not of your PC or your grandmother's armchair! ;)) in order to achieve communism, a classless and stateless society without oppression and exploitation of man by man anymore.

How to achieve this is where our views differ, there are many many tendencies in the revolutionary left, such as Anarchism (more correctly, anarcho-syndicalism or anarcho-communism, there are anarchist forms like anarcho-capitalism which have nothing to do with the left), Marxism-Leninism, Trotskyism, Left Communism and much more, which sometimes is split into certain tendencies within themselves but all see communism as final aim and believe in the things I talked above but differ in the ways how to achieve it, for example anarcho-syndicalists/communists don't believe that the stage of socialism, i.e. the dictatorship of the proletariat over the bourgeoisie and the struggle of the proletariat against the relics of the capitalist society, which finally leads to the "withering away" of classes and the state, is necessary.

I hope this helps you, if you have any more specific questions don't hesitate to ask them in the Learning forum and maybe you should have a look at these threads:

It sounds good to me so far. Im going to continue my research. I believe that humanity's main goal should be improvement, constantly trying to better ourselves. A truly Communist society is the road to improvement. Regardless of language, gender, sexual orientation, nationality or any other diffrences we may have we need to learn to work together. I look forward to learning more about Communism and im definently going to stick around.
