HELLO! I always feel obliged to make an intro rather than barging headfirst into the main forums like i own the place even though, for some reason, i always feel a bit awkward. I think it has too much of a whiff of first day of school about it. I feel like im regressing back to my 12 year old self. S'pose its just manners, though, innit? Break the ice yap yap yap....
Im 28, live in Cannock, England. Been browsing the boards for 3 or 4 months, and would say that im of the left in a general kind of way in that i think that capitalism is to blame for almost all of the things that are bad in society, from littering (i hate people that litter. I think it says a lot about your character, all of it bad. BE WARNED!!!) to drug addiction to poverty and homelessness, but besides a basic grasp of political ideas i would say im probably pretty politically unsophisticated compared to many on here. Can always learn, though, cant you?! and thats what im here for...
So there it is, HELLO!
Peace x

Hi
Don't mention first days of school. :crying: I'd hope making an intro here isn't quite as traumatic as regressing back to schooldays! ;)
Don't worry about not knowing much about politics - to be honest I'm also very new to various ideas and concepts, but you'd be surprised how quickly you learn about things when you're somewhere like this.

yeah a touch, but there is a reason for it which i wont go into here. Suffice to say i attend another altogether different group to deal with all that nonsense.
Anyway, thanks for all the replies, hope to make a good contribution here.

It is never too late to learn, Milkshake!
Well, I hope something you do learn here or anywhere else is that nothing is really cut and dry, black and white. I think the one thing that everyone should agree on this site as socialists, communists or anarchists is that capitalism is not the end all be all and there is a future after the fall of capitalism. However, capitalism isn't actually the cause of all evil or anything. Sure big problems exist in our current system and it must change, but the same problems were much more severe before capitalism in the monarchist and slave-holding states. The biggest problem with capitalism is its ability to keep its hold on the world even when people are educated. The governments that existed before capitalism were fragile and the few who were educated faught back against them with ease of mind, but in capitalism we are much more stale in our actions against the wrongs committed because of the instant gratification that this economy provides the leading educated intellecutals and we, as individuals, are hard pressed to shake this privilage, even though it would help many.
Anyway... I could go on and on, but I must go now. The message I'm trying to get across is that we must study the world with as little bias as possible and that will lead you in the right direction. That is how I came to be a communist. It makes the most sense, when you look at the world and see what it needs.
