....what do you do?
Currently concentration is required, but I have absolutely none to offer. What the fuck should I do? Maybe someones suggestion will actually help.

You might wanna wait for some more advice, but I'd ask an admin to ban you for a while. This forum can be distracting. Maybe something of the kind can be done with your whole Internet connectivity?

^Yes that's what I was going to suggest as well, but I refrained because I thought it wouldn't be helpful...

Lol, wanted to suggest weed as well. For me it works like crap, cuz i mostly smoke amnesia which might help to concentrate but not to remember :p. But weed in general would do.

Weed makes you relax, smoke weed if you are stressed. When I can't get myself to concentrate or I must study and am sleepy I just drink some tequila.
Jerk off.

:laugh:I haven't tried this but I don't think it would help much, I tend to get lazy after that

Great piece of advice. However there is the problem of not having the stuff. This adds to my inability to concentrate. :( Normally smoking weed helps me concentrate tremendously.

Scotty I agree, however I need the internet in order to complete the task which requires my concentration.

i sometimes find that the source of my distraction comes from a lack of sleep/rest. i find that taking a small break/nap before work helps. also, take a shower. it helps.

Fuck life, and do what thou will. :thumbup1: Go to a bar and hit on some girls, or perhaps play a console game. Life tends to take care of itself. Yes, this is my inner hedonist talking.

Weed doesn't help you concentrate, you just think it does.

Well, weed helps me calm down when I'm upset over something, and that helps me concentrate. Ergo...

On a serious note, you can take a short nap or meditate.

Coffee helps you concentrate when it comes to reading intensive material, but if you need something to prevent you from being distracted, then probably a walk in the neighborhood or reading a good book might be helpful. I notice I tend to get distracted any time I'm in contact with a TV or a computer. Electronics mess up concentration. Focus away from the electronics and pretend its 1800 where technology is primitive and people lived by candlelight, and your mind clears up wonderfully.

I agree with every point made here. Coffee + locking myself up in the library for 4 days per assignment helped me raise my GPA quite tremendously.

Weed makes those feelings worse for me, it just intensifies whatever emotional state I'm in at the time. So I only smoke it when I'm feeling okay otherwise it's a no no.

Hopefully you're joking, but in case you aren't, meditation isn't "hippy wank," it's a serious exercise in self-control, focus, and relaxation.

Yeah it isn't mystical bullshit, meditation can actually clear your mind quite dramatically.

I've often found that I only have problems concentrating on things that I, "Have to," do, but do not actually feel like doing.
If this is the case with you, what you need is simply more motivation to concentrate and this is easily obtained.
You should grab a sheet of paper and draw a line down the center of it. On the left side of the sheet of paper, you should write down all of the positive aspects of getting donw what you need to get done, and briefly write down what getting it done can lead to. On the right side of the paper, you should write down all of the possible consequences that can come into play if you do not concentrate and fail to get done what it is you need to get done.
When this is complete, you will then be able to take a moment and visualize all of the positive things that can come from completing the task and all of the negative things all in one place. If this provides you with enough motivation to get it done, then you will concentrate as you need to and complete the task. If this does not provide you with enough motivation to get it done, then you might ask yourself whether or not it is really worth doing to begin with.

Just leave everything, just like, pretend your computer/tv/phone doesn't work, leave the house with a single book, go sit somewhere. Works wonders.
Also, a basic pychological thing is that you are way more inclined to finish something you've started. So lie to yourself - tell yourself you just need to concentrate for 5 minutes, and thats it. And you'll often find you've spend 20 minutes on something before you know it and want to go on.

Sometimes I have issues "concentrating" in the sense of finishing hw (although I do finish it eventually, but I tend to procrastinate till it's almost a "last minute" deal with insane amounts of stress) that I wondered if perhaps I need to do adderal like a friend of mine does.

This is mostly what I have trouble concentrating for. I think it's just cause I really hate doing it, because it's just a pain really. A friend of mine recommended "Concerta" but I'm not one for those kind of drugs. I would try it though, it might be worth it if I actually finished all the stuff that needs to get done.

This actually helped a lot. Thanks
On "mediation", I used to try it a lot but I never really got a hold of the concept. Maybe I'm just restless in my own mind, well I surely am, but I can't seem to just "clear my mind" and just focus on breathing. I find it difficult, though I imagine if I practiced enough it may be helpful.

Weed won't help ya with that mate, trust me.Neither is wanking off. This is not a kind of concentration problem you have because of being tired or have for example headache but simply because you lack motivation.I'm in the same condition atm, it's just plain boring. When I get this I need something with energy.Try a cup of strong coffee or eating a chocolate.A friend of mine drinks red bull but I can't stand that shit:lol:Good luck and good courage, last year exams I reckon?
