He probably knew enough as do many Argentines but his second language was French.

Probably not very well at all. As I know many South amaricans don't know hardly a word of English. Its just like asking you if you know Spanish. Far as I know he always had a tranlater whenever he was speaking to English speaking people. Mind you i have seen pictures of him speaking to Americans so he must have known a bit.

I heard somewhere he knew a bit of english, not much though. About as much as a first year spanish student speaks spanish.

i think he could probally speak well, just choose not to.

on marxist.org they have some audio interviews with him, and americians reports ask him pretty hard questions with big words, yet he takes no time to "decode" it. he responds quickly and cleverly. they ask questions in english..he reponds in spanish.

I don't know if Castro went to school in Miami. Apparently he WAS head of his class in English. I heard a funny story, don't know if there's any fact to it, that Castro was trying out for a major league ball team, possibly the pirates, and pitched a home run to Mickey Mantle. Just a little story my 6th grade teacher told us that I remembered.

Andrey: do you spoke English?

I"m sorry, that was uncalled for. I just...damn it...i laughed.

he was in miami because he was waiting for a flight home, with a plane of horses or something like that. I think that he was in DC later on when working for the cuban government, it was a UN meeting I think....strictly business ;) Fidel was there too, and he refused to stay in the ritzy hotel they had for him, he went and found a more 'sutible' place to stay, and he socialized with the 'locals'

I think fidel just went to havana university, I haven't heard convincingly otherwise. :)
