This was in a note posted on Facebook by some idiot who is a friend of a friend, and I feel like blowing off some steam.

I don't want to miss out on anything though, even though I'm normally quite competent with this shit on my own.

I was pleasantly surprised to see this note posted on Facebook by a friend I haven't talked to in quite a while - *edited out*. Please read it - she expresses her ideas well, and I share many of her views.

"When the new health care plan passes and goes into effect in 2013, I'm leaving the country. Because by then, Every other country that HAD that plan and realized it doesn't work and is even more unfair than the U.S. CLAIMS the current plan is, will have abolished it.

And before any of you write this off as the ramblings of a right wing extremist with a "chip on their shoulder," I'm a registered Democrat. I consider myself to be independent for the most part but Louisiana is a closed primary state and I had to choose a side (I am currently rethinking my decision). I agree with certain aspects of both main parties. I'm an advocate of stem cell research, but I don't agree with aborting an embryo/fetus because someone doesn't feel like taking responsibility for their actions. There are conditions to abortion I feel are exceptions, but this is not the point of this note.

Most of the "50 million" people in this country without heath care don't have it because they CHOOSE not to have it. When you're living off the government in the first place because you don't feel like working, so you squeeze out a hundred kids you're not going to take care of just to get more money from a system that's currently in debt trillions of dollars, Yeah. You can't get health care because you're UNEMPLOYED and live off of food stamps and only enough money to buy some clothes that fucking flat screen TV, so you can't afford insurance. Because you CHOOSE to be unemployed. Because you're a lazy fucking leech. And really, for that reason alone you don't DESERVE free health care, or free anything for that matter. But seeing as the liberal agenda is to shit out money the U.S. doesn't have and give it away to you fat lazy fucks with a hundred kids, who because of the lifestyle you choose to live by will probably end up addicted to meth and selling drugs on the street, only end their lives in a shoot out, it seems you're all going to get it anyway :D

Oh, and let us not forget another group of people who are completely undeserving of free health care. Illegal Immigrants. You don't have a green card. You are not a citizen of this country. And yet I'm going to have to pay for you to have your fucking arm sewed back on because you, as per your "unskilled labor," cut it off accidentally with a buzz saw while building the house I'm paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for the American Home Builders to cut corners and pay you as little as possible and pocket the rest after expenses.

They're dressing it up by giving us "a choice" to keep the health care we currently have if we're happy with it, but lets be honest here. This "Free" health care? It's not free. Taxes will be raised to cover it, because as stated previously, this country is in debt like nobody's business and couldn't pay for this bill if it wanted to, which lets be honest again... It wouldn't. If it had money, our health care would be the least of its worries. This is a ruse, plain and simple to try and bring money in. So, if we opt out and keep our current means of health care after the bill passes, like I said: Taxes will be raised and not only will I be paying my own insurance monthly and a $20 co-pay (which is by no means as UNREASONABLE as they're making it seem), but in paying taxes I'll still be paying for Suzie Q, her illegal boyfriend Miguel, and their 56 children to have health care they REALLY don't have to pay for because they probably don't pay taxes anyway.

You're all fucking sheep. Open your eyes and take a good, hard look at the world around you.

Rather than reforming the entire system, which may have a problem or few, FIX THOSE PROBLEMS AND DON'T TRY TO FIX WHAT ISN'T BROKEN.

Thanks for fucking us over Obama... but wait, by the time this goes into affect, you won't have to worry about how it affects you as a person or a candidate. You'll have already been re-elected, and won't be following the new health care plan anyway, right? And Pelosi? Why... You're planning to retire by that year, aren't you? Oh, and Mary Landrieu, How does it feel knowing you're even less a human being than you were before? Weren't you against it in the first place? Oh, but then I guess when large sums of money are waved in your face, selling out your beliefs and common sense is okay.

Pay attention, people. This is the Beginning of the End.

**I would also like to point out that, as a female, I'm supposed to have a mammogram by at least the age of Forty. even though breast cancer is being found in women at increasingly younger ages such as the twenties and thirties, and there is something floating around the House to lower the age from Forty to Thirty, if the Health Care thing passes, they will RAISE the age to Fifty, and change the suggested "once a year" for Gynecology check up to once every three years. Because they don't want to pay for it. And yet they're offering to "pay" for us to have free health care? So when you, or your twenty five year old daughter develop breast or cervical cancer, and have to be put on a waiting list for chemotherapy 15 years later, which probably won't help you anyway considering how long you've had it without knowing, You can thank our wonderful government."

However, one thing I will not do is leave this country, and neither should you. I refuse to accept defeat. I refuse to bow down to the tyranny that MY government is going to try to impose upon me. John Locke's Second Treatise of Government states that the relationship between the state and its citizens is a contract. The citizens agree to surrender certain freedoms enjoyed in a 'natural state' in exchange for the order and protection offered by the state. However, if the state oversteps its boundaries and begins to exercise arbitrary power, the contract becomes void. In this case, the citizens not only have the right to overthrow the government and replace it, they are morally compelled to do so.

I will not leave this country. I will be leading her to, and through, the coming revolution.
And if you're smart, you'll be by my side.

Anyway, help me tear this shit apart.

Personal insults are welcome, I want to make this as crushing as possible

Uh, what the hell is that person even talking about? The Healthcare Bill is a fucking joke. It's so watered down that it's a more liquid substance than water itself at this point.

Her attitudes are fucked up enough for normal times, but under a crisis like this where most people are affected she's obviously begging to become a pariah. Is she one of these fools that thinks they know everything after a year in college?

I feel for you. I have a few people on facebook who I remove from my wall. I love that new feature. One was pregnant and wouldn't shut up about their kid. The other was Inuit and wouldn't stop talking about eating baby seals. Obviously, I have no problem with the Inuit, but I'm also vegetarian and seals are adorable. So it was hard to be culturally understanding in that case so I just bit my tongue.

I didn't know either of them well. They're still on my facebook friends list, but I never see anything they write unless I look for it.

Tell her that she is obviously a backward ass person who is determined to be swept up by the insane and irrational squawking of the right-wing and that it is unfortunate that she chooses to align herself with the side of history that would leave her barefoot and pregnant and chained to the kitchen if they had their way.

Then move on. She is not worth arguing with.

Oh, and is she white? Cause she sounds like a flaming racist as well. Make sure to call her out on her racism too.

Well, just comment that a) she's wrong about the "healthcare" bill and that b) she's a fucking elitist, racist moron.

I know (and in most of these cases, KNEW) heaps of people like this. It is not worth arguing with them, they are fucking idiots whose entire worldview is based on stereotypes and incredibly simplistic understandings. Like the development of their political opinions stopped at the age of 12 or something.

You know you've won when your opponents only remaining response is:

"It really is just an opinion. I don't think its a good idea. Take it at that and let it be."

Its amazing how easy it is to debate these people down, and its mindblowing how un-informed they are politically and how not up to date right-wingers are with political developments, research, and statistics.

Like Arizona said, its like right-wingers stop developing politically at the age of twelve.

Anyway, ended the debate with a rant on how modern governments only function is staving off capitalism's collapse, and that we need social programs like universal healthcare to keep everyone content or we need to replace the whole system all together

Gonna see if anyone has the balls to try and start with me on that.

It would be interesting to see her stance change if she had an ill relative, that had no health care because they "choose not to have it". She indefinitely leads a very comfortable, western, middle-class lifestyle. As a Brit it seems bloody ridiculous that something like health care can be privatized, and run simply to line to the pockets of a privileged few. She better thank her lucky stars that she just so happens to come from a wealthy enough family to pay for her health care.

Wow

I wake up this morning to find, after having shut up everyone in the thread, some batshit libertarian has responded with:

I'm waiting on the collapse of the dollar actually. It can't be to far off b/c China's gotta be getting tired of buying our debt. If their comments at the G-20 meetings are of any significance the answers gonna be yes. The time for arguing will pass an since surviving will be every man for himself these arguments serve as a pointer for those I run across who will be a prime candidate for my .223 healthcare plan as I head to the country for safety. Oh what a day that's going to be. Then all this bickering will mean nothing. Others in the room: What the dollar collapsing? He's crazy, its invincible. All we have to do is keep printing more.

The one world answer to it all.

Thank God for the international bankers and their centralized banking systems. They'll save us like they always do.

I don't know wtfffff

I like that he seems to have fit a death threat to me into that rant though

TBF, the sooner China does decide to bankrupt the US the better. You'll lapse into isolationist policies and FDR style soc/dec and leave the rest of us alone. :p

If the person who wrote that is really a Democrat then it wouldn't surprise me why so many of them in the Senate folded when it came to the public option.

Otherwise what your "friend of a friend" wrote sounds like something Glenn Beck at Faux would have said.

That's some seriously classist, reactionary high-grade bullshit you've found there.

"for that reason alone you don't DESERVE free health care"

Sorry, fuckhead...everyone, regardless of how much you think they contribute to society, deserves healthcare. Just like how they all still deserve food and shelter.
