As far as I know, I am the first communist in my family's history. Although, I did have distant relatives that lived in the Soviet Union... they still live in Russia.

My mom is a Brit, dad is Armenian (his mom's mom survived the Armenian genocide by the Turks in 1915, and moved to Syria, where my dad was also born).

I was born in London, England, and spent most of my life in the war-torn Lebanon, because my dad had to fight in the Gulf War, and so we left for the Middle East. He was shot & killed on the border later on.

And my mom is anti-Communism. LOL. :biggrin: We always argue about it. She says my dad hated Communists too. Hah! Oh well.

Mothers side of family:
My Greatgrandfather was a Croatian. He was a Partisan and fought against the Germans in the 2nd World War. When he died he had a 5 point star on his grave rather than the christian crucifix most people had(he was an athiest) My Grandfather was a member of the Communist Party Of Croatia(CPH) and later stepped out of it because he believed that oppurtunists joined the party to get better jobs, he was right, as we later see that Yugoslavia is later hijacked by a bunch of nationalist assholes. My Grandmother was half-german, half-croatian and got a child(my mother) from a Hungarian guy and later married the man I reffered to as my Grandfather. My mother had a happy youth with not too much troublesome experiences and went to university and got me. My grandparents also got a second child(which was of my grandmother and my grandfather, not her and that hungarian guy) who committed suicide around the time of my birthday about a year ago. He was schizophrenic.

My dad's side of family:
My grandparents are quite anti-communist people and were very pissed off when my dad joined the yugoslavian army(too communist) note that my dad had communist ideals before he joined the army. This army stuff forced him too fight in the Yugoslavian civil war, he refused and my family(mother, father and sisters) fled too the Netherlands.

That's all folks.

I have about an eighth bit Bavarian in me and comrade Reuben tells me there was a socialist republic of Bavaria so there! The other seven-eighths are made up of anscestors from the British Isles, pretty boring really, although I think someone comes from Tenerife in my family, that's kinda cool.

Mother = An ex-baptist Democrat
Father = A Buddhist lefty-Democrat

Father's side of the family: Rich, Protestant Republicans. Upper class and very conservative, thinks my father is crazy for becoming a Buddhist and a jazz musician. Grandfather thought we should have started a war with the USSR after WW2. Grandmother was actually very nice, but died recently. People on this side of the family are of British descent, I believe.

Mother's side: Lower-class, fundamentalist Christians. Grandmother loves Pat Robertson and believes that dinosaur bones are all faked. Most of the women in this side of the family tend to be very short-tempered as well, including my mother. People on this side of the family may be of German descent, I think.

I keep it a secret from my relatives that I am an atheist and a socialist... otherwise they'd come at me with torches and pitchforks! My family's political background sucks...

I'm partially Irish but with a Scottish background, way back to when Ulster was colonised. I don't think any of my parents/grandparents are communist, but I think another relative is.

My dad is a marxist who is also kind of a fabian socialist but he is kind of old-school athoritorian, except he considers hitler as bad as stalin. both evil.

My mom is too stressed and depressed to be into politics anymore but when she was young she went to Kent State in Ohio. She got arrested a few times for all sorts of demonstrations. She was at the famous one where those people were shot but she fled when they started tear-gassing and was getting on a bus when the shots were fired. On her side ther isn't much political activism except her.

My dad's side is crazy political, some right(regretably), some left. On his father's mom's side I apparently have a relative who was some kind of republican wheeler and deeler (I don't care to know when, or what his name was). Also, further back on that strain I have a Norwiegan ansestor who got a nobel prize in literature for some kind of political poems and or playwrights (I'm not sure), that he got thrown in prison for.

On my dad's mom's side: she had something like twelve siblings, in London growing up between 1910 and 1940, who were all of different political views, any collour shirts you can think of. they used to scrap at the dinner table all the time about it (apparently).

Out of all this I have turned out to be some kind of socialist anarchist I'm not sure yet. Progress and garantees of rights, and liberties is the simplest way to put my ideals.

Both sides of my family have are of Irish stock, both families coming to New Zealand in the 1800s. My parents moved to Australia in the 80's. My father's side are diehard Catholics, my mother's protestant. Myself, I'm protestant. I dislike the somewhat extreme stance the Catholics have on things and I do not believe the pope is anything special above being a nice man. My father is apolitical, my mother is leftist and taught me to question everything the government does.

Politicaly, i don't know exactly where my father stands, but I know he's some kind of a liberal leftist. My mom is a Trotskyist. I am a marxist. My brother is a Democratic-Socialist. The rest on mom's side are right-winged borgeoisie crap. The rest on father's side are liberal leftists. i think one may actualy be a Maoist. Unfortunately, now I live in america with my step-dad who is a die-hard capitalist belonging to the 'liberatrian' faction which, for those of you who aren't american, is very much like anarcho-capitalism, but they will deny it if you call them anarcho-anything.

Sheesh, all you people with your leftist relatives... you all suck! I think that my family might be the most die hard Capitalists out of anyone here. My father is an accountant(theres a bunch...) for (was Arthur Andersen) whatever company took over the Andersen branch here. My grandfather on that side is buisy making almost millions on the stock market, still. My grandmother is follows whatever my grandfather does, and he hates Communism. And still on that side of the family, you go back and you find a very rich English family that had quite a bit of land. I'm also related to King Henry VIII. My mom is almost apolitical. That side is mostly Irish, like 3/4, and my grandmother helps support the IRA finacially(not that much... just donations). So my family basically sucks! Evil people with more intelligent family members, I envy!

Me- commie
Bro- apolitical
Parents- cool, kiss-ass liberals (they shaped a lot of my beliefs)
Maternal Grandparents- liberals
Paternal Grandpa- leftist who fought in spanish civil war
Paternal Grandma- right wing, who was active in the spanish civil war, as was her whole family. I was shocked to hear some of the stories of her activism.
I have an uncle that is a commie, but the rest of my family seems to be either liberal or socialist.

*My whole family is from spain*
