Minqi gives a good analysis of the current issue of climate change. Environmentalism framed in a capitalist framework is almost as useless as poverty groups trying to fight poverty in a capitalist framework.
The whole reason for even wanting an international agreement as the one proposed in Denmark is to have competing interests set an agenda from which to function, i.e. no one wants to give up their share of the pie. There are divided sections within the captialist class that support or deny climate change for their interests. One section will profit from legislation as it will spear a commodities bubble or have vested interests in new technologies, the other is against it because it will hinder growth in their sectors. I mean the whole issue is fixed around corporate interests.
Minqi is right in that the best way for environmentalist to get what they truly want is to lend their voices to the social justice movements against capitalism.
