Anybody here a member of the NDP? If so, anybody from Northern Ontario?

Welcome!

The NDP is to right for me, and among the leftist parties I don't want to commit myself before I am further educated. This summer I will be working up north at a provincial park.

Well, they aren't communist, but certainly not right- wing! I see nothing wrong with the ndp, and nearly wherever they've been in power, positive change has come. A perfect example is public healthcare. They have the support of pretty much every major labour union. I'll be the first to admit, though, there are some members who are only a part of the party because they're "too liberal for the Liberals" (who aren't really liberal at all). I choose to side with the ndp because they are easily the most likely to bring positive change in Canada.

but hey, to each his/her own. :)

If you want to further educate yourself, you can go to pretty much any party's site by searching for it on google.

To me the NDP is of an establishment that needs to be crushed. They may call themselves "left" on occasion, but they still adhere to the same capitalist drives as the rightist parties. We need to get back to the left use modern ways (internet, music etc) to implement a more hardcore left that is about POLITICS not careerism. That's just my stupid point of view though.

I have just been reading about Mr. Layton,a nd it seems that bastard put public money meant for roads and sewers into bocce courts and labeled anyone who asked 'why' a racist.

I can't wait until the NDP realize that they are too soft to make a difference, and if they do, it will be quickly undone.
