It's been a while since we had one of these threads. Also I need something to procrastinate with. So here are a couple shout-outs from me.
Luís Henrique is really terribly intelligent. Probably the user with the best thought out politics on this whole board.
Devrim is really smart and funny as well. Also he knows more languages and has been to more places than I probably will ever learn/go to. Also the stuff he's told us about his life is quite interesting, and I get goosebumbs every time he talks about his experiences.
Vargha Poralli is actually one of my favorite users, though he tends to get overlooked cause he doesn't post so much. I hope to meet him when I go to India next year.
BobKKKindle$ is apparently my doppelgänger from across the Atlantic. He's very intelligent and I hope one day to meet him, which hopefully will not annihilate the universe. My one problem with him is that I'm pretty sure Maoism/Stalinism would have been eradicated by now if he would make his arguments against them more concise.
Apikoros. I don't really know what to say about her other than that she has the most solid posts on women's and racial issues, as well as Zionism etc. that I've seen on the board. Very much common sense in politics as well, which neither I nor most of the users on the board happen to have.
ComradeOm- I disagree with him on the Popular Front, but man does he know his history and I've never seen anyone do the educated history smackdown better than him.
Yehuda Stern is a tad dogmatic but he's one of the best contributors we have. Second to none at the Trotsky-style polemic.
Kassad, because unlike many of the Stalinists around here, he is capable of intelligent thought. Ditto for Wanted Man (or whatever his name happens to be), Ismail, and Prairie Fire.
Holden- he's funny as hell and I'd feel bad during our MSN conversations if I left him off this list.
Led Zeppelin does the Marxist theory smackdown better than anyone else. I hope to meet him sometime but I don't think I'll be in the Netherlands for the forseeable future. :(
I probably left out a lot of people. Now post yours!

Probably gonna forget a few, this will be a long list... I'll try to narrow it down
bcbm (for just being completely pro)
Apikoros (for making great posts on race, gender and Zionism, and her posts in Stonertalk)
Hiero (for being one of the few posters on this board who loves Lacan and shares both my post-modern streak and my Maoist streak, often discusses academic shit with me and gives feedback on my University essays)
Raul Duke (for our mutual love for psychedelics and Hunter S. Thompson)
Comrade Alastair (for being my doppelganger within WPNZ, except with twice the intelligence & charisma and half the maturity ;). j/k j/k)
Children of the Revolution (for constantly stroking my ego on Facebook and for having a heart of gold i.e. her social work with HIV/AIDS, etc)
Gravedigger (we seem to often be on the same side in debates, and on top of that he just sounds like an admirable real-life activist as well from the little I know of him)
Dr. Rosenpenis (for liking great music like Fela Kuti, for the most meaningful and spot-on one-liners on the board, says it like it is a lot of the time, for giving me insight into the third world than I'd otherwise have)
Stranger Than Paradise (the most reasonable anarchist, great movie tastes as shown by who he chose for his ~neon avatar~)
Also what hugsandmarxism said, the ~ML block~, Kassad, Glenn Beck and mykittyhasaboner are my favourite users within this block. Glenn Beck is just fucking hilarious
Actually it'd be easier and shorter to list the users I DON'T like
Also, Arizona Bay and dada for absurdity,

Honourable mentions to comrades who have taken a Marxist stance, a Leninist stance, or a staunchly revolutionary stance on any isssue ( ie. Kassad, Arizona Bay, Comrade Alastair, hugsandmarxism, Scarletghoul, Glenn Beck, etc, etc.)
If I didn't mention you, it doesn't necesarilly mean that I'm disrespecting (although, sometimes it does, in which case you know who you are).
RP, what's this?
Ravenfire or PrairieBlade or whatever she is named now.
Erm, thanks for the mention, but it almost negates itself.
Comrade, I've been "Prairie Fire" for almost two years now, and you know that, because you took time out of your day to deliberately act like you were confused about what my name was (even though you are aware of my present and previous alias in their entirety, as you demonstrated ).
Did I dig up one of your old aliases, and say "Random Precision, or Catbert, or whatever his name is"?
As I said, your mention is almost meaningless, because you deliberately mis-spelled my name, made an issue of a name change that was cemented in late 2007... I just don't know why you chose to go in that direction.

I really can't be bothered given any sort of long statements on the people that I appreciate or recognise as being very intelligent. Here some are (in no particular order): Yehuda, Apikoros, Random Precision, Bob (both, Kindles also ties for the biggest wanker award though), Luis, ComradeOm, ZeroNowhere, Robbo, KC, Loveschach, bcbm, Explosive Situation, Homorevolutionary, Patchd, The Doctor, Bilan, Leo, Devrim, Marmot, other assorted Left Communists and all the other great posters who I can't call to mind right now.
On a serious note, I can't think of any single Stalinist that I particularly like. It's not necessarily political either. I disagree with the Trotskyists but like alot of them.

No, they don't. Especially not when they're Marxists.
Anyhow, as for my list, Mike Lepore is probably the most consistent poster on the board, with almost all of his posts being pretty awesome. Other than that, Devrim is Devrim and mayhap the only person to post in Chit Chat with a sense of humour that is not based on the lack of it. K(KK)indle$ is good when it comes to putting forth a case which is backed up and explained quite well, though I may not always agree. Robbo is generally a fun poster to read, given his tendency to get into debates against inane people which then turns into a round of mutual insults alongside the debate. Dave B doesn't seem to post that often, but generally does post well, though it does seem a bit monotonous at times. Still, he does have a tendency of posting interesting quotes and information, so yeah. GeneCosta/Schrodinger's Cat was a great poster, and Vanguard1917 generally makes good points and gets into pretty entertaining debates. Other than that, I do recall seeing quite a few good posts from Demogorgon, albeit on a board which I do not frequent, and also Niccolo Rossi, bcbm and Leo.

Remember this is an English-language forum. A lot of the time most English speakers don't see the point of learning other languages since English is so widespread. Turkey on the other hand, is right between the Arab lands and Europe, with a sizable Kurdish minority, so I can see why 3 and a half would be considered "quite poor" over there. But not here because we are all English-language chauvinists.

This is like when a pretty girl says "i'm ugly arn't I?" just so you have to say "no your not you pretty" and her ego inflates. Only instead of it being a young female doing it with looks its a middle aged turkish communist doing it with linguistic ability.
Everyone does something to get attention. I know I do: I try to show off how smart I think I am. It works about 10% of the time. And all the books I have to read to get just that! It ain't worth it, I tell you. I think I'll stay dumb.
But hey, even you have a good way to show off: You get bounced out of clubs like a Ghetto Defendant. Nothing wrong with as long as you shout "capitalist pigs!" on your way out, right?

I've never been bounced out of a bar, or anywhere else. Seen it happen, though.
Whatever bitterness I may display in my posts is likely unrelated to anything happening here, on this web site.
BTW, "self-projecting" is a bit redundant, I think.

Ha ha, actually I don't think so. I grew up speaking two languages so I have only actually successfully learned one. I don't think it is very impressive. I just didn't want people having the idea that I was good at something I'm not.
Knowing 3 languages to me is pretty impressive and surely above average.
But then English people are notoriously monolingual.
it's still much better than most people. Which language do you speak "half" of?
Turkish, I can get by and usually speak Turkish at home, but I misunderstand sometimes, and sometimes need to repeat myself for people. Also I have an atrocious accent. When I moved here from Beirut, I was already middle-aged as somebody so kindly put it, I am not good at languages, and never planned to stay.
Turks are actually pretty mono-lingual too. Unless you grew up with another language such as Kurdish, which less and less people do nowadays, very few people speak another language although English has become more common amongst the young.
I would imagine that there are people on here who are impressive linguists though, not least some of the Dutch.
I once met the guy who was the boss of the Goethe Centre in Ankara. He said he spoke 27 languages fluently, including beautiful Turkish and Arabic, and many more 'poorly' including his English, which seemed to me to be faultless though heavily accented.

PRC-UTE would be the best poster on here in my opinion, if his views were shared by all the republican movement we'd be in a much better position.
Posters i also enjoy are Riite-Boi, Pastradamus, Ismail, Pogue & all the IRSM lads really.

Luis Henrique, Devrim, ComradeOm, Random Precision, Vargha Poralli, Apikoros, MarxistLeninist, Hiero, Arizona Bay, Prairie Fire, TragicClown, Comrade Alastair, Glenn Beck, Ravachol, Bob the Builder, Forward Union, Kevis, Ismail, Rjevan, Woland, PRC-UTE.
The above is basically a list of people who often make (or made, since not all around as much) good political posts, and who always have something sensible to say politically, regardless of whether I agree with it at the time. Most of them are also nice people that one can relate to. I'm sure I'll have forgotten a few. In that case, don't be offended.
There's a whole bunch of other users who I think are just cool people in general, but I'll have to make a list of them later.
RE: people who mentioned my changing names. I intend to keep this one for a long time.

We're bilingual. "Louder-and-slower-with-pointing" is a language.
(Yes it's an old, cheap joke but I feel it is always obligitory).

As fpr this thread itself I can't really make much of a list as I'll always miss someone but here's an attempt: NoXion, Cult of Reason, Led Zeppelin, Devrim, Wanted Man, The Doctor, psycho, Fuserg9, JazzRemington and Ranma42. I've probably missed a load of people off that list, if you feel I missed you and won't be offended if I tell you you're mistaken please do mention.

Yeah. He can't really move around all that much, because he's partly paralyzed, IIRC. But his mind is still sharp and all there, though, at least it was when I visited him.
On a side note, I really really hate nursing homes. My grandfather was in one very briefly following a stay at a hospital, and the whole place just smelled like urine and exuded a sense of death and misery. My grandfather said "Get me the fuck out here!" I was pretty anxious to get out of there myself, and I had only been there ten minutes.

My first job was at a nursing home. The old people did smell bad but the food was great and the residents and I had a good time doing activities.
