Does anyone know any Good Leftist heavy metal band. As in heavy like Lamb of god, Kalmah, children of bodom. Any death/black/melodic/power/folk Metal with revolutionary tendenceys would be awesom.

Ministry is good, though I wouldn't consider them like Lamb of god or Children of Bodom. Ministry is more experemental than those guys. Sepultura is great, too.

The thing is, lots of metal bands talk about resistance to authorities and ruling powers and such, but they are hardly ever overtly leftist.
Ministry and Sepultura are such bands (as mentioned),

The first real metal bands ever and Halford is ofcourse a gay leather daddy. Iron Maiden used to cry for the Indians, and alot of the old thrash bands that focused on war themes took a completely lefty stance on all of it.

Here are some bands that I would recommend: Aztra, Bolshevism, Agony, Profecium, Subvertor.
You can go to a site called Encyclopedia Metallum and search for "Lyrical Themes" and type in Socialism or Communism or something. For Socialism, remember, try to avoid the bands that sing about "National Socialism".
I hope this helps.

All I remember from HSB is that they're vegan... don't remember much of their political statements.
And as for Slayer... King and Hanneman always struck me as more libertarian. Plus, I'm pretty sure I watched an interview w/ them and they sounded sort of American nationalist.
Oh also, they're not really metal, but NIN is quite leftist.

You're all missing Dying Fetus.
They kinda went nuts for a while after 9/11, but overall they're like 3 parts good and 1 part bad. They are probably the most prominent political death metal band today, though the problem is you can't understand a damn thing they say.

The lyrics have nothing to do with the title of the song.
KILL YOUR MOTHER AND RAPE YOUR DOG
fuck these corporations and their fucking record stores
I don't want my fucking paycheck feeding money whores
these fuckers flood the market with their fabricated shit
and laugh as this pathetic fucking music gets them rich
stay the fuck right out of my life
I don't need your fucking advice
you don't know what our shit is all about
so don't even try to figure it out
fuck your Spice Girls and your fucking Pearl Jam
it's all a bunch of shit, I say fuck it
Fuck your Dave Matthews and your fucking REM

*Edit: heres the lyrics:
Hang your heads in shame. Human failure, kill for gain. Mankind has lost all dignity. Skinned alive, the thoughts unbearable. Left to die, untraceable. Just another fashion accessory. Mass slaughter of the innocent. Kill it, skin it, wear it. How the fuck can you rest your head and sleep at night? Kill it, skin it, wear it. Where do we draw the line? Hammer to the head. A merciless killing, nothing said. Tell me who are the animals? Final breath, discard the carcass. Wear the flesh. Its sickening the depths we will sink to for money. Were the animals now! Crammed into cages. Madness sets into the mind. Stockpile of bodies. Writhe in pain until they die. All of this for the value of ink and paper. Gassed or bludgeoned. The end results the loss of rights. The rich and wealthy fund this motherfucking genocide. All of this for the value of ink and paper. A life for a life I say. Senseless violence it will never go away. IT IS MURDER.

Slayer, Lamb of God
I wouldn't consider performing for US military personnel, which Slayer have done in the past, particularly leftist. While I realise all the Nazi imagery is to provoke a reaction from conservatively-minded people, I've heard nasty stories about some Slayer fans in North America i.e. a lot of bonehead Nazi skinheads can't tell the difference between provocative art and actually supporting Nazism. I know punk bands like the Dead Kennedys have had problems with this in the past too though, despite them being nominally anarchist, so maybe it isn't the artist's problem.
As for Lamb of God: wanting an end to the US-led occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan does not a radical leftist make. A lot of Americans from the libertarian-right to the KKK want an end to these conflicts but not out of some sense of internationalism, quite the opposite in fact. I'm not saying LOG fall into this category but they always struck me as just left-leaning libertarians. For instance in the linear notes of Ashes of the Wake (fucking killer record by the by) Randy Blythe salutes the US military saying:
"The men and women of the United States' armed services who are fighting and dying right now in the desert: I think this war is horseshit, but I respect y'all immensely. Please come back home safely to friends and family. America is waiting for you." Get back to me when they express solidarity with the people currently living under the jackboot of these "men and women", and of course defend their right to resist them.

No need for all the formalities,
Jump the kangaroo courts

Running red lights in a green zone,
Someone has got to die
Hidden aegis, nothing here to see,
So load the dice for me please
And let's snort the bottom line
Crude cashed into refined
Guaran-fucking-teed, just sign the deed,
Guaran-fucking-teed, someone will bleed
Someone has got to die!
Ours is not to reason why,
Ours is but to do if the pay rate's right
Black liquid assets, fuck the Mujahideen
Paint their picket fences red with the American dream
Lay the hammer, hammer down, get the job done right
Jacked up and clocked in into a fire fight
Covert reactions and you never saw me
A glass parking lot in the American dream.
They all die!

Yeah KMFDM have some real good political songs. The band members of Rammstein are all pretty strong leftists. All of them except for one are East Germans and even made music there. They have good things to say about it too lol. But their politics doesn't always get into their music, only sometimes. They tend to be pretty subtle.. except for songs like "Links 2-3-4" and "Amerika" where its bleedingly obvious.

Black Gold Reign is a good song. Straight to the point, a lust for profits brought by oil will be our demise.
Lyrics to Black Gold Reign:
Will they see?
Will they hear?
Will they see this?
Will they feel this?
Will they hear the voice of resistance or will they bring us down for their bloodshed?
Trade us all 'til black gold rains
Fought this fight, there's no end in sight except for our rights
Will they blind us all?
"Be all that you can be"
Forever in vain, our wasted beliefs
Erase the truth
So with that fall from grace will they burn it all down in an emphatic
Fading away
Fading away
To this time
To when we began
Forever from cleansing the blood on our hands
Release the truth
Destroyed in anguish, another million faceless
And I wish we had eyes to view our demise
Tomorrow, together we rise
With their fallen disguise we must hunt the despised
Thieves; high class murderers
They can't taste this anger that flows through our veins
A separation of our own god damned nation that lets us die
Leaders that follow a golden tomorrow
They bleed us dry
We let them rise
And if I'm not mistaken, some Winds of Plague songs are somewhat leftist. Earth and Classic Struggle are good examples (I think Classic Struggle is meant to be some sort of a play on words - Class-ic Struggle).

I posted a similiar thread not too long ago. LOG has some socially conscious songs. I'm more of a Melodeath and folk-metal fan myself and most of the music is apolitical and more philisophical, which is cool. But if anyone knows of any socially conscious and left leaning Scandinavian Gothenberg-style bands or songs, let me know. Oh, and Dark Tranquility has a few songs that aren't blatantly left-wing but the poetic philosophy would appeal to anti-authoritarian humanist types.

So lets see, every band I can think of has been mentioned a couple of times before. KMFDM and Ministry really standing out here. Well, this might sound odd, but Marilyn Manson goes pretty far as a non-conformist, in almost every album he directly attacks the American religious rightwing. Nowadays he turned in a bit of a sad bigot, or a 'Dopey Clown' as Trent Reznor rightfully says. Still he has made some good shit.

Spilling blood on humanity
You cannot hide the face of death
Oppression ruled by bloodshed
No disguise can deface evil
The massacre of innocent people
Deviated lies fear blinding in your eyes
Enforcing their truth through a gun
Aggressive discipline and barbaric control
Thousands of people cannot be wrong
You cannot hide the face of death
Oppression rules by bloodshed
No disguise can defence the evil

Motograter, though not around anymore, had some leftist leanings.
(I don't have 25 posts yet so I can't post the song, but it's on youtube, and here are the lyrics.)
Mutiny
Mixed agendas
You've got the right to remain defenseless!
Trained not to think
Patriotic?
Gun, and a badge and you've got a fascist!
Slaves, to the kings
Wave your flag
Now, everyone swears that they stand for something
I'll never see
All you're lying
You think by simply hiding it changes?
I've reached my brink
No, is the word you understand?
No is the word you fear!
No, is the word you'll comprehend?
So No is the word you'll hear
I've never really needed!!
I've never really cared!!
I've never really trusted!!
No one was really there!!
Everyone, can see?
Everyone, but me?
Shadow boxing
You bite the hands, that buy you your finance!
Numbers and ink
Politicians
Backing the top percent of the nation?
You're not in sync!
No, is the word you understand?
No is the word you fear!
No, is the word you'll comprehend?
So No is the word you'll hear
I've never really needed!!
I've never really cared!!
I've never really trusted!!
No one was really there!!
Why!
Everyone, can see?
Everyone, but me?
Propaganda
The truth has emerged, the lies are retracting!
Your time is done
Compensation
Don't wanna change!
But we're gonna change it!
Under the gun!!!

Manipulate the people for the money they pay
Selling skin, selling God

While we pay for wars in South America
Fighting fire with empty words
While the banks get fat
And the poor stay poor
And the rich get rich
And the cops get paid

Does anyone know any Good Leftist heavy metal band. As in heavy like Lamb of god, Kalmah, children of bodom. Any death/black/melodic/power/folk Metal with revolutionary tendenceys would be awesom.
You should check out Panopticon. Great Anarcho/Pagan black metal.

The Dream is Dead. Not so metal but more-so thrashy hardcore/punk. They're totally anti-authoritarian and revolutionary.
"Hail the New Pawn" by The Dream Is Dead
More empty promises. All troubles to be swept away. Another campaign slogan.
Same boss, a different day. Real solutions excluded, another artificial
boundary drawn. An illusion of Democracy, a glorious dawn for the new pawn.
Four more years of this artificial culture. The last gasp of an empire in
decline. Four more years of reactionary dissent; a new millenium without a
voice. A boot stomping on humanity's face forever under the illusion of our
choice. For Freedom, for Justice, I sing this resistance song; for those who
resist the mark, and refuse to follow along. Hail caesar, hail caeser! Always
darkest before the dawn. For those who resist the mark and refuse to Hail the
New Pawn.
Towns reduced to strip malls, downsize this community. Just another
unproductive unit in this global economy. For Freedom, for Justice, I sing this
resistance song. For those who resist the mark and refuse to follow along.
More empty promises. All troubles to be swept away. Another campaign slogan. Same
boss, a different day. Real solutions excluded. I guess things will never
change...An illusion of Democracy. A Glorious Dawn. All Hail the New Pawn!

A few that come to mind: Misery Index, Sepultura, Sacred Reich, Nuclear Assault, Beneath the Massacre. My buddy had a band called Domination Obliteration - Communist death metal band. Think they are on a bit of a hiatus though.

Marilyn Manson is probably the person I know who's made a good argument for Bush: many in Hollywood and in the entertainment industry hate him. :P

I used to love Marilyn Manson. His old stuff was great. But ever since he and Reznor fell out, his music has been terrible. I came to realize the only reason it was ever good in the first place was because Trent Reznor was producing it. Once Nothing Records was no longer in the picture, his albums were just lacking. I liked everything up to the Golden Age of Grotesque, which of course was his last release on Nothing Records. I don't really know anyone who enjoyed Eat Me Drink Me. And The high end of the low? No thanks.

One of my favs, Korpiklaani's video for "Keep on Galloping" has a environmentalist message.
In nordic countries eveyone's an enviromentalist. All the populists and opportunists are forced to adopt at least environmentalist rhetoric. Green values are even part of finnish nationalism.
To make it simple, Korpiklaani is not only as nationalist as hell, they are even slightly reactionary. They are most certainly conservatist.

I don't know them enough to make a statement about their politics, but if anyone's looking for more vegan metal Cattle Decapitation is pretty outspoken about veganism.
Skinless - when they're not singing about gruesome sadism - can get pretty vehemently anti-war. The album 'Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead' takes a very powerfully sardonic outlook towards war.
It's hard to find solid political music that stays 'metal' though. I love the music, but I'll be one of the first to admit a majority of bands have a habit of sacrificing message for image.

He already had a fall out with Reznor back in 2000 and on. TGAOG is a very good album, the whole theme is a reference to so called "Degenerate art", a praise to the expressionist movement of the 30's. After that he really started to become an asshole, having conflicts with John5 and Pogo, two very talented band members, which are on very bad terms now. He didnt pay attention to his now ex-wife, which makes no sense, considering its Dita von Teese

Stampin' ground did a fantastic song called "Officer down" and Architects did a cover of the song, which IMO is better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yue5qq6BnKg
Lyrics:
When reason dies behind closed doors
Face down in a cell in a pool of piss
It's time to fear what we should respect
It's time to question cause and effect
Striking with impunity
Hiding behind flags of immunity
When corruption rears its ugly head
The force of law becomes a farce
Personal ambition usurps justice
The rich protected at the expense of the poor
Would you sit on the fence, take no chance?
As those batons fall, turn a blind eye
In an ideal world
There'd be no need for law
No need for police
But in a society so sick
So obsessed with blind greed
Someone has to protect
The old and the weak
Officer down
Can we really afford to be so selectively blind?
If we dig too deep what would we find?
At authority's heart beats a dollar sign
Under such a regime we're all doing time
Striking with impunity
Hiding behind flags of immunity
Never say, you weren't warned
When they come to drag you away
To silence the dissident hiding in us all
They clench the fist of ordained might
From which side of the barbed wire
Do you want to see your life pass by?
When reason dies behind closed doors
Face down in a cell in a pool of piss
It's time to fear what we should respect
It's time to question
Cause and effect
Who teaches the teachers?
Who makes laws for lawmakers?
When they read us our rights
What about human rights?

I don't think I've heard a band with a more explicitly pro-labor message in their lyrics. At least not a metal band.
Many a man bear the scars of laboring to pay a toll
They lie just to exploit our miners and hell bent to export our coal
Come step into our territory and our laws you shall not adhere
They're gaining control through the voting and bribery built on your fear
Lay down the bible and take up the rifle
Our blood runs thick down the banks of the crooked creek
These grass roots have all been tilled for generations next in line
Our heaven will never be filled while death overfloweth the mines
The backs that break under the strain of burdens brought on by their lives
Are put out to fend off the rain oppression that cuts like a knife
Lay down the bible and take up the rifle
Our blood runs thick down the banks of the crooked creek
Let's war
Take up arms for your mother there is nothing to lose
Around the necks the union symbol hangs like a noose
It is autumn on the mountain and a Chafin is to fall
Charged with murderous treason Harding declares martial law

The reich has fallen
We stand at the gates of Berlin
With two and a half million men
There's 6.000 tanks in our ranks
We're using as battering rams
Artillery leading the way
A million grenades has been launched
The nazis must pay for their crimes
The wings of the eagle's been broken
Marshall Zhukovs orders:
Serve me Berlin on a plate
Disregard the losses
The city's ours to take
Chorus:
Attero Dominatus
Berlin is burning
Denique Interrimo
The reich has fallen
The price of a war must be paid
Millions of lives has been lost
The price must be paid by the men
That started the war in the thirties
The spring of the year '45
The year when the nazis will fall
We're inside the gates of Berlin
The beak of the eagle's been broken
Comrade Stalins orders:
Serve me his head on a plate
Disregard the losses
The eagles' land's ours to take
Chorus:
Attero Dominatus
Berlin is burning
Denique Interrimo
The reich has fallen

For a band that predominantly produces songs about War, I would hope that one of these days they'll start writing songs condemning war instead of just glorifying it. Price of a Mile is probably their most Anti-war song, reflecting its utter pointless shittyness... it isn't much.

Changing "Guilty of being white" to "guilty of being right" is leftist as fuck.
Also, the lyrics to Blood Red are leftist as hell..
The Slayer song "Blood Red" may be about the horrors of totalitarian "communist" regimes, but that doesn't make them anti-leftist. I'm sure most leftists (aside from certain Stalinists and Maoists) can agree with it's message. As for "Guilty of Being White", Slayer's lead singer Tom Araya isn't even white for fuck sake. Look at anti-war songs like "War Ensemble", and "Dittohead", which is a stab against right-wing Americans. Also, the lyrics to "Americon"
With our callous minds we infect
Other ways of life no regrets
Like a masochist we instigate
While the rest of the world must tolerate
Americon
it's all about the mother fucking oil
Regardless of the flag upon it's soil
In a blood bath we pad our fucking greed
The price is high to maintain liberty
Americon
So here we live in a land of deceit
That imprison the minds of the weak
No immunity for swaying the odds
From this resistance strain americon
Americon, some feel the need to play god
No immunity for swaying the odds
From this resilient plague americon
With our poison minds we infest
Other ways of life we ingest
In a blood bath we steal you dignity
The price is high to maintain liberty
Americon

Even though a majority of them benefit greatly from selling their music for profit? I can understand ''getting a message across'' as Zach de la Roach likes to put it but being a successful musician and an anti-Capitalist i just hypocrisy. I think I've heard someone refer to musicians as ''lumpen bourgeois'' or something like that
