The European autonomous movement, mainly centred in the German-speaking countries but spreading into various others, has been a major factor in radical European politics for about thirty years. Gabriel Kuhn will give an overview of the movement's history and its current state – questions from the audience are strongly encouraged!
Growing up along the German-Austrian border, Gabriel was politicized in the autonomous movement in the late 1980s. He has spent many years abroad and is currently living in Sweden, but has always maintained strong ties to autonomous politics. He is part of the editorial collective behind Perspektiven autonomer Politik [Perspectives of Autonomous Politics], a book due to come out with radical publisher Unrast Verlag in the spring of 2010. Gabriel has worked on several publications with Unrast Verlag, and is the founder of Alpine Anarchist Productions. He also works with PM Press in the US, and with the anarchist journal Brand in Sweden.
