Interesting stuff. Not totally a discussion thread--but truly about beautiful people doing the best they could in difficult times. Says alot about the human race.

Good find. Some of their testimonies are truly remarkable. Especially the ones where they talk about how they taught themselves how to read or write.

Interesting stuff. It's also a good site to find free books - often out of print things as well.

I admire Harriet Tubman. After escaping from slavery by the usual method -- keeping still in the woods every day to avoid the catchers, and following the North Star by night -- she sneaked back in and re-escaped thirteen more times, to help other people escape. I can't imagine having that kind of courage and perseverance (not to mention good luck).
