DEFINITION OF INSANITY – DOING THE SAME THING OVER AGAIN AND EXPECTING A DIFFERENT RESULT!

I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-To-Die Rag

Country Joe and the Fish

Yeah, come on all of you, big strong men,

Uncle Sam needs your help again.

He's got himself in a terrible jam

Way down yonder in Vietnam
AFGHANISTAN
So put down your books and pick up a gun,

We're gonna have a whole lotta fun.

And it's one, two, three,

What are we fighting for ?

Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,

Next stop is Vietnam
AFGHANISTAN;

And it's five, six, seven,

Open up the pearly gates,

Well there ain't no time to wonder why,

Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Well, come on generals, let's move fast;

Your big chance has come at last.
go out and get those reds TERRORISTS —

The only good commie TERRORIST is the one who's dead

And you know that peace can only be won

When we've blown 'em all to kingdom come.

And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?

Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,

Next stop is Vietnam
AFGHANISTAN;

And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,

Well there ain't no time to wonder why

Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Huh!

Well, come on Wall Street, don't move slow,

Why man, this is war au-go-go.

There's plenty good money to be
supplying the Army with the tools of the trade,

Just hope and pray that if they drop the bomb,

They drop it on the Viet Cong AL-QUAIDA.

And it's one, two, three,

What are we fighting for ?

Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,

Next stop is Vietnam
AFGHANISTAN.

And it's five, six, seven,

Open up the pearly gates,

Well there ain't no time to wonder why

Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Well, come on mothers throughout the land,

Pack your boys off to Vietnam
AFGHANISTAN.

Come on fathers, don't hesitate,

Send 'em off before it's too late.

Be the first one on your block

To have your boy come home in a box.

And it's one, two, three
What are we fighting for ?

Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,

Next stop is Vietnam
AFGHANISTAN.

And it's five, six, seven,

Open up the pearly gates,

Well there ain't no time to wonder why,

Whoopee! we're all gonna die.http://www.well.com/~cjfish/game.htm

Dedicated to the imperialist soldiers from the US and other NATO allies, who have already served in Afghanistan, or will be sent now:

When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains
An' go to your Gawd like a soldier.
Go, go, go like a soldier,
Go, go, go like a soldier,
Go, go, go like a soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

Some words of advice from a racist and colonialist, Rudyard Kipling. :)

Such an act of violence advocated and instigated by Obama really begs the question... Nobel fucking Peace Prize!?!

I assume once the whole storm blows over in a few years time western corporations will swarm into the area and reap the benefits of the destruction. Perhaps they are already doing this.

Yeah I think the only good thing about that peace prize is that it's great to bring up for propaganda! It really adds a needle sharp point to the hypocrisy.

While corporate profiteering will always be done whenever possible, I don't think the US ruling class is that concerned with a few industries getting profits directly out of this in a few years. I think they are much more concerned with reestablishing US hegemony and the legitimacy of its leadership and ability to successfully wage wars. Obama spend a lot of time in his speech stressing American exeptionalism and that the US only invades other countries for "humanitarian/democratic" reasons.

The oil pipelines and all that are just an added bonus to the US having bases and control in the crossroads of the world (bases that surround eastern europe and Russia with easy access to Iran) which mean that (in their mind) they can keep Russia subbordinate and keep China from becoming a full military/economic power on its own.

I was never convinced by Obama that much in the first place. His actions now begin to suggest he is no damn different from any of the rest of them....

You know what a US Marine feels when he kills someone?

Well I think that the USA and NATO forces are quite comfortable in Iraq now, so it's a good place as a sort of HQ for their operations in the east. Have you read the Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein? It's not from a radical perspective or anything but I've just started it, and it talks of how disasters (famine, flood, hurricanes, earthquakes and even war) are a "great tragedy" for corporations, but also great chances to rebuild. Under the "Friedmanite" Chicago School of cappie economics these companies swarm in after a disaster (Hurricane Katrina is used as an example) and rebuild on a blank sleet, so to speak, with privatised institutions that reap the benefits of the destruction. At least that's how I think it works. It'd be nice if someone could clear this up and/or elaborate ;). And it's interesting what you say here: "Obama spend a lot of time in his speech stressing American exeptionalism and that the US only invades other countries for "humanitarian/democratic" reasons." because it brought to mind an example where instead of sending UN-led peacekeeping forces to Darfur to stop the janjaweed militia the UN hired the private security firm Blackwater to do it for them...

For reasons that are obvious, I'd rather he feel the lead from a trusty AK-47.

The elite reaction to the announcement is very indicative of how little western media has progressed since Vietnam. I haven't seen a single source in the mainstream that brings up the fact, that the troop surge was opposed in Afghanistan by ridiculous odds. So it's still taken for granted that we have a right to intervene militarily in whatever part of the world we want, and for entirely selfish reasons: The crux of Obama's speech was that we are in the war to keep ourselves safe, not bring democracy to the Afghanis. This also indicates that he's given up trying to reform Karzai's government to make it less corrupt.

Actually, Keith Olbermann briefly mentioned the negative Afghanistan poll results, and even the Pentagon military-industrial complex in his special comment last night.

I actually thought about emailing this to Chomsky to find out whether it contradicts his Propaganda Model.

Done and done, Haliburton anyone? The war in Iraq is to seize oil and Afghanistan to seize the world's largest opium trade. The biggest selling drug in the world is produced from opium and is called codeine. Now wonder no more folks why good men and women are dying overseas while the rich fat cats get richer on the backs of good working people.
