View Full Version : Small theories

Hi, this is my first post, so excuse me if I happen to violate any of the rules of the board.

This post is meant as a "real" post and an introduction to myself. I am a high school student and a - what I think it is called - theoretical leftist. With that said, I have never attended any riot or protest even though I wanted to. My social environment just won't accept it since I live in the richest neighborhood in my country. Some of my classmates are children of some of the richest men who walk the Earth. I do on one hand think that this was a mistake that I chose to go to this high school, but on the other hand, the school is a pretty good place for learning (well, you got to be critical to the things you learn, especially when you're in Political Science and/or Economics classes) and by going to exactly this school takes me behind enemy lines and makes me learn about our political enemies.

Anyway, since I'm rather theoretical, reading books and web pages mean a lot to me. From what I've seen through the few years that I've been alive, I've made some conclusions:

-Right wingers and non-socialist/communist parties control the parliaments of the Western world since they recieve much money from the banks and major cooperations to "market" themselves in elections. Furthermore, lobbyism is a serious issue and affects the political process to a certain degree that we might call our so-called democracies "cooperation-cracy" or whatever it's called instead.

-People who vote for capitalist parties do not advocate democracy in the end, because when voting for a capitalist party, you vote for a party that is not against major cooperations. Major cooperations that control the political process and affects the politics in undemocratic ways as stated above.

-Advertisements are a waste of ressources and does not produce anything - there is because of that no real reason to maintain the capitalist system because of the major waste of ressources that will eventually lead to an ecological collapse unless it is heavily regulated.

-People have deemed the former USSR states economic structures useless, and I believe there are two reasons: 1. The reason to the collapse was because the countries were torn apart from World War II and Eastern Europe and Soviet did not recieve assistance from the Marshall-plan. 2. The mass media has controlled to public to believe that economic structures cannot exist without any built-in personal economic incentive. Because people have been told that, they become selfish and that is, I believe, the real contra revolution that has been going on since the radio and especially the television were invented.

Now, that was a pretty long post, but this is what I've come up with since I started opening my eyes to what crappy world we live in.

Oh, and I have a question: Is Capital Vol. I-III to hard to understand for a high school student, or can I give it a try? Because I want to learn more of my comrades, not just my enemies.

Peace! (Oh, and if I make some grammatical and/or typing errors, please ignore that, I'm a foreighner and I'm devastated after sweatshop labor in a filthy super market)

EDIT: Well, now I realize that I have posted in the wrong forum. Smart move.

Yes, very hard. I would not bother trying to read it, read about it instead. I will post some books explaining the arguments in it on your page.

I really wouldn't recommend Capital as a starting point. Wanting to read more is admirable, but there's a lot of other good stuff that's worth reading first.

Wage Labour and Capital might be worth a read as an alternative, once you've studied that in some detail you'll have a fairly decent grasp on the economics side of things. There are some good abridgements of Capital that are worth looking into, but starting out on all three unabridged volumes would be an absolute nightmare for a beginner.

Lucky you, Ism, that my level of English knowledge only permits me to answer these pieces of mind from the newcomers to RevLeft

-Right wingers and non-socialist/communist parties control the parliaments of the Western world since they recieve much money from the banks and major cooperations to "market" themselves in elections. Representative "democracy" is a kind of bourgeois government. Besides the army and the police, they use the parliament to complete a scenario where the interests of the capitalist rule but hided out of the peoples consciousness. Of course the "politicians" are paid for their roll of "independent democrats".

-People who vote for capitalist parties do not advocate democracy in the end, because when voting for a capitalist party, you vote for a party that is not against major cooperations. Major cooperations that control the political process and affects the politics in undemocratic ways as stated above.

No idea about your cooperation stuff, do you mean the links among the greedy vermin (privileged elite) that rules the world?

-Advertisements are a waste of ressources and does not produce anything - there is because of that no real reason to maintain the capitalist system because of the major waste of ressources that will eventually lead to an ecological collapse unless it is heavily regulated.

The anticommunist propaganda of the mass media spread the bourgeois ideology all over the world. Advertisements keep consumerism high.

-People have deemed the former USSR states economic structures useless, and I believe there are two reasons:

1. The reason to the collapse was because the countries were torn apart from World War II and Eastern Europe and Soviet did not recieve assistance from the Marshall-plan. Actually, the URSS and China didn't need the Marshall plan to grow at a high rate after WW2
2. The mass media has controlled to public to believe that economic structures cannot exist without any built-in personal economic incentive. Because people have been told that, they become selfish and that is, I believe, the real contra revolution that has been going on since the radio and especially the television were invented. But when people realize that the Estate bails out the banksters while the people got stuck with health and home problems, this may drive people to find out who really satisfy their selfishness -the greedy vermin (the bourgeoisie).
