Has anyone here seen Metropolis (1927)?

The movie was quite interesting as it could be considered one of the few social democratic propaganda films ever made, arguing for reformism. I am also interested in what you think about its definition of industrial society.

It was Hitler's favorite movie because of its counter-revolutionary aspects, although the director fled the country when the Nazis took over. Technically and thematically, I guess it was an advanced movie, it's unfortunate that science fiction movies tend to completely leave out class issue these days.
Also, it's really annoying that the Weimar censors destroyed some of the "racy" scenes like when the robot spy goes to the red light district.. sigh. Hopefully they remain to be uncovered in some dusty cellar. Or maybe they already have.. a new remastered version of this is always coming out.
The misrepresentation of the Spartacist uprising kills it for me, though. half a star.

I have read that Hitler's favourite movie was the 1933 version of King Kong. But doesn't surprise me that he liked Metropolis. I do not think Hitler viewed movies favourably or not because of their revolutionary or counter-revolutionary tendencies, but rather of the special effects.
For some reason, Hitler strikes me as the kind of guy who would have worshipped both the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars.
