It comes shortly after Iran warned it may cut back already limited co-operation with the International Atomic Energy Agency after being censured by the UN watchdog for concealing the existence of a nuclear enrichment plant.

MPs in Tehran today called on Ahmadinejad to reconsider his policy towards the IAEA after Friday's resolution insisting that Iran resume negotiations. It was the first time in nearly four years that Tehran had faced censure by all five permanent members of the UN security council – their rare unanimity reflecting deepening international exasperation over the impasse in nuclear talks.

Ali Larijani, the powerful speaker of the majlis (parliament), said: "If you do not abandon the ridiculous carrot-and-stick policy, we will take a new approach towards you."

The parliament also announced it was allocating $20m (£12.1m) to back unnamed "progressive" groups to combat US and British "conspiracies".

This is gently going to push Israel and the US deeper into paranoia bringing us closer to the possibility of WW3.

I doubt it's going to lead to WW3. I don't think Iran's military power is comparable to that of the U.S. and Israel In the worst case scenario, the U.S. and/or Israel will invade Iran and get stuck in another pointless endless war.

Iran's military is bigger than the entire israeli population

Ok, but Israel and the U.S. have way better technology and resources at their disposal. Just do the math.

Just how many nuclear plants does the US have?

Absolutely fantastic. Now the Iranians can export their oil instead of burning it for power! I just wish they had access to the most modern reactor designs so that they could build more efficient reactors. I just hope the rest of the world will stop pretending that the Iranians are dumb enough to nuke Tel Aviv.

Although, I was once told that Ahmedinejad said he was prepared to sacrifice two thirds of the Iranian population to destroy Israel.

USA and Israel have nuclear weapons, so I don't think they will be panicked by Iran's civilian nuclear program.

So do Russia and China, who, if it came down to it and there was a confrontation between Iran and Israel, I highly doubt the Kremlin would side with Israel

I highly doubt it would side with anyone at all.

Let's both stop making guesses and start making accurate predictions on the data available, ok?
