Che aslo fought on Guatemala during the American strike against Jacobo Arbenz, this is where he got encouraged to start armed rebellions.
Although he never shot a bullet on Guatemala, he organized a plant to defend the capital only if Arbenz gave the people any weapons, but a fellow argentinean took him out of Guatemala since the CIA had their eye on him for starting to organize a opossition. He flew to mejico i think and there he met with the M-26.

Subcomandante Marcos is right about Guatemala. Actually, some ppl say he did fight in Guatemala even when he didn't shoot a single bullet.
He organized a group of rebels in Argentina (but he remained in Cuba). The group was defeated in Salta (a province in the north of Argentina that shares a border with Bolivia). From his biography (the one writeen by Anderson, I think) you can get this information and how he felt miserable about it...he said to a friend, "I can't stand it, you know, my people dying down there while I'm sitting here at my desk unable to help them" - Afterwards, he travelled to Congo and at the same time, Tamara Bunke was organizaing the Bolivian guerrilla conditions to help the future guerrilleros establish there.
Of course, through his speeches he was always "fighting".

I knew you'd be able to help Larissa! Thank you! I know he first met Fidel in Mexico and that was where he was given the nickname Che because the Argentinians use it alot but the Cubans and Mexican's didnt. I just never knew how he ended up there! Thank you again!
