Hello all: Since book-reading is one of the important tools for any socialist and philosopher. and since book-reading is one of the strongest weapons against the capitalist-system. I would like you guys to post what do you do to motivate your self toward reading, and where do you read your books? in a library? in a park? at home? Do you drink coffee to motivate yourselt toward reading? and at what time is the best time to read books? And the best place to read? at home or in a library?
thanx

Hello my anarcho-communist brother, the problem is that there are no beaches around where i live. I live in Tennessee, USA which is a state real far from beaches, haha. Well i guess i would have to settle for libraries. But thanks anyways for your tip
:)
take care

Read at a desk (not in bed or reclined on a couch) it will force you to pay more attention and if you have a computer, you can do an internet search or look up definitions to things.
Also read at your own pace and try reading more general books on a subject - if reading something like "Capital" is too much, try reading a more general book on radical economics and from there you will find the more specific things that you want to read more in more detail... then when you go back to those more complicated or detailed texts, you will be more motivated because you will have a specific reason for reading it.

I second that, it's pretty easy to get burnt out on something like Capital when you're not quite that strong in economics (which I'm not saying that you aren't, but I sure as hell wasn't ready for it). Honestly, I thought "Marx for beginners" by Rius was a pretty good introduction to basic Marxism and Marxian economics.
Also, I like reading outside personally, especially when the air is crisp and a little chilly. Personally I don't do well reading when it's warm, I usually just put the book over my face and doze off. Reading online is good too, but I find my eyes getting tired more quickly when I do that.

I'd try reading before you go to bed, so you can focus entirely on the book without any distractions of the daytime.
For me, if I'm reading anything economical, I definatly require coffee :p
Also, if your finding it difficult to get started, promise yourself you'll do something easy, like just read one page. Often its much easier to continue with reading after you've started it a little bit, you'll often find you read on from the 1st page without even knowing it.
Hope this helps?

I would say read when you get up in the morning and before you go to bed. It shouldn't be hard then.

Watch the film. Seriously though if you don't want to read something you won't learn that well but if you must do it on a desk taking notes with a bottle of beer/ cider

Still in school? If so, those pointless things we go to in the school, something like 'classes' if I recall, are a great time to read. Almost no distractions and nothing better to do.
Good at self-discipline and like food? Get some of your favorite small snacks like gummy bears and give yourself one for every page you read. WARNING, with a book like Capital you could still end up with diabetes by the end, use this tip with discretion.
