The Truth and Reconciliation Commission says South Korean authorities massacred at least 4,934 civilians suspected of being North Korean sympathizers.
it bolded on its own.
anyways, i figured this was an interestign bit of news. Could this mean some of North Korean claims of american/south korean/UN atrocities may be true?
im not denying extrajudicial killings. but there are some more wild ones like North Korean children being quartered by american troops. i find that a bit "eccentric" for a claim. i dont know much about the korean war though so i thought this might be a nice opening for a discussion?

Gee...but I thought it was just those terrible socialist countries that killed dissenters?
Of course there are going to be atrocities committed by America and its allies that have been totally ignored. They've got to keep their good guy image sparkling. To out that they've done things every bit as bad as their political and economic rivals wouldn't be very good PR.

of course the "good guys" have committed atrocities. im just wondering if there were any more that happened in the Korean War.
an obvious example for the US was the Japanese "internment" camps and the HUUUUGE anti-german sentiment of WWI. books were burned and germans were harassed.

no claim of American war crimes is "eccentric", imo
none of this should come as a surprise to anyone except the claim that there are people who believe their "good guy image"

This isn't the least bit surprising, considering the anti-communist campaigns launched by the US and its capitalist allies in Asia. The same things happened in the Philippines, Indonesia, etc.
