I am going to piss everybody off by suggesting a different tack. Don't be a dick, instead, impress them with knowledge and discipline. Many people start to re-think their prejudices when their stereotypical views are challenged by a real life example. I remember reading somewhere, for example, that people who personally know gays are less likely to be homophobic, and those who are homophobic tend to change once they realize someone they know well happens to be gay.
