Pulgasari (North Korea, 1985):
So the plot for this is, a metal-eating Godzilla-like being (spawn of the people's fury) co-opts a medieval peasant revolt in Korea.
This film was shot using a kidnapped director. Shin Sang-ok was a progressive South Korean filmmaker whose films were banned by his country's military government. He was offered a position in the North but refused, and so was kidnapped and forced to make this film against his wishes by Generalissimo Kim. The same Japanese production company (and even the same guy in the suit) as the original Godzilla films were contracted by North Korea for this (not kidding).
Anyway this film was banned after it came out for some ideological derivations. It gets a bit boring sometimes but the special effects are great! So is the soundtrack.
