(Nearly) Everyone says when i have asked something like "history shapes the world around us" etc
What do people mean by this? That the present is shaped by the past? Surely thats obvious?
Can you think of any specific examples of this? Or do people when they say just mean history in general? I guess one would be knowing the history of US Imperialism would help explain the reasons for 9/11 or why Iran hates America so much.
The other bait one is that quote "those who fail to learn history are doomed to repeat it" - to what extent is this true?
Anyother reasons please say
