Anyone seen/remember this show? For those who haven't/don't, it's about a guy, in space, with robots made out of things you can find in your garage, making fun of old, crappy films. I spent my childhood looking forward to watching MST3K with my father on Saturday mornings, and was recently pleasantly surprised when I discovered a youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/TomMSTie) chock full of episodes. Here's an episode taking a stab at an old propaganda film about the evil reds invading American soil (with a short about the importance of patriarchy i mean dinner with the family)

I was watching some videos of it on YT a few days ago, especially the ones about 1950s public service videos. If all you knew about the 1950s came from those videos, you would be right in thinking that the 1950s was some sort of repressive, uptight society where feelings were almost illegal and a strict hierarchy had to be conformed to. How much better we are now would depend on the individual.

I saw a few episodes because I like crappy B-movies. The public service movies are the best.
They also did some movies that arent that bad like Diabolik or the Ed Wood movies (Ed Wood's movies are funny enough on their own).

Mystery Science Theater 3000 was my "Saturday Morning Cartoons." As a little kid I always woke up at 9 AM Saturday to watch it. Without a doubt a great influence on my life.

Apparently there are some real issues with the royalties on replaying these horrible films, which is why this show is no longer broadcast. A pity, since it was probably one of the most creative science fiction series of the late 20th century.

I actually liked this show although I watched little of it. My father imitated the whole concept though so any other time when I was a little kid and we were watching some sort of crappy movie we would sometimes just make funny comments or "voice-over" them and put funny non-sensical lines.

I love that show. It's also much like the Simpsons, where the more educated you are, the more jokes you get.

God I love MST3K. Absolutely hilarious. It has to be of the best shows of the last twenty or thirty years.

So, I guess the big question is, Mike or Joel?

Joel gets props for coming up with the idea, but Mike is my personal favorite of the two.

I saw the MSTK-free version of Red Zone Cuba, I like B-movies but that was torture.

It was torture, even with the brilliant commentary. Some ex cons get sent to Cuba to fight, then they get caught, escape, and try to find some kind of tungsten mine, after killing some shop-owner for lulz? :bored:

Another memorable episode entitled The Brain that Wouldn't Die! (http://www.youtube.com/user/TomMSTie#g/c/00C8B1AB65AA32D5)
Edit: Damn, it's not linking the playlist for some reason. Oh well... not impossible to find if you really want to watch it http://www.revleft.com/vb/../revleft/smilies2/laugh.gif:lol:

It was a great show, the best thing on Comedy Central back then. Has it ever been released on DVD?
