Hope Not Hate/Searchlight; Yes, we know they're reformists and thier strategy seems to be focussed on gaining Nu-Labour votes from the left (excuse me for a moment while I have a laughing fit. ahem) , but would you trust a group that claims strong links with them?
I've heard numerous passing comments on HNH and Searchlight bieng infiltrated by MI5, who are using it to gather intelligence on the left, but is this actualy the case, or is there a chance that attending thier meetings and seeing what they have to say and whether they can see sense is a possiblity?
I think I may have accidently dropped myself in it quite badly and may need to get a new phone now. :(

Yeah, let's trust Searchlight, it's an awesome publication that can teach us so much stuff.
Let's also work with the UAF, even though they repress people who they think look anarchistic, great ideas great ideas.

UAF isn't in itself inherently fucked up, it has shit tactics that make it so.
Searchlight however is inherently fucked up, and we should never work with them. They are another branch of the state aparatus, they chase people back to the labour party, they lie about nazi bogey men, they are grasses & informants, they are ran by fucking zionists ffs, etc etc etc

I've not actually bothered reading it myself, but this is meant to have useful information on the subject: http://libcom.org/library/searchlight-for-beginners-larry-o-hara
As for Hope Not Hate, a picture is worth a thousand words:

It was an anti-fascist magazine in Britain set up during the late sixties. It was THE information portal for fascism and anti-fascism in Britain at the time. But as you can see above, it's used as a tool of the state to spy on right-wing and left-wing extremists. They also inflate and sensationalise Nartzi's so that more repressive legislation can be brought in. Invariably this will also be used against leftists.
When C18 was up and running AFA were doing surveillance on C18 organisers in London. One of their top lads Will Browning I think it was, was seen meeting up with the Searchlight editor at the time.
There are countless stories like this. Basically they are not to be trusted!

No, you can't trust them. They regularly grass up anti-fascists to the police and create hysteria.

To look after Searchlight? Sure I would.
People forget just how much funding Gable has gotten out of the state over the years. Searchlight is now a nicely funded little number with a good nest egg in there for its top level employees.
They get money from the government, from frightened middle class liberals and from charities as well. Its a thriving business.
Regardless of how much of an anti-fascist Gable was in the 70's, he's a business man now.
