If this belongs in learning, please move it there. I've posted it here because it is about anti-fascism so it could go in either place.

How does antifa work? I mean how do groups organise, do they meet up to discuss what they're going to do or use other forms of communication? What tactics do they use? What do they actually do? Why do they distance themselves from other anti-fascist groups, e.g. Searchlight and UAF?

Loads of questions there, but I was curious about how much they differ from the usual groups.

Searchlight and UAF have a history of grassing up militant anti-fascists to the law, they unnecessarily criticise them, use the same stupid tactics over and over again, and worst of all, they collaborate with the racist capitalist state, militant anti-fascists should have absolutely nothing to do with UAF until they sort their act out, and that starts with booting hooligans like Weyman Bennett from the group.

I'm sure someone else will be able to answer the rest of your questions.

nah, i think it fits well here, but indeed if an mod wants to move it, they could.

it differs from country to country, and group to group but most antifa groups are organised as local non-autoritarian action groups who are in turn organised in a nation wide federation.
a small specialised group of activists from one city or region that know each other realy well take the brunt of the work, they do research, start campaings, organise demo's and actions. Then when an action or demo is called (either publicly or secretly) they can call on other groups and on an umfeld of other more numerous actvists who are intrested in antifascism but dont have time/intrest to be part of the more boring/specialised aspects of the work.
tactics differ, you can have an counter demo, you can have small afinity group autonomous actions or as has been the case during nazi marches here in the netherlands recently a foccus on getting the local population out and help them confronting the scum allong their route.
next to this direct action work most antifa groups also publish magazines, website etc with action news and more importanly research info on fascist activity, organisations and leaders.
also a lot of groups organise benefits to raise moey for other groups in places like russia and poland who are straped for cash.

Why do they distance themselves from other anti-fascist groups, e.g. Searchlight and UAF?

as been explained above, searchlight isn't trusted because of MI5/secretservice affiliations (most anti-fascist know that the state is the last one you can trust to fight fascism), UAF is seen as an in- or even countereffective liberal pressure group that only flounts with militant anti-fascism but is in reality just the so muched SWP front group to haul in new members.

well, around here antifa/afa are the usual groups but anyway, i get your drift, and i would be happy to answer any follow up questions.
