View Full Version : I had a dream about a nuclear attack.

here's how it went:

I'm sitting at home. I see this big flash light up my window. I go outside and I see this huge mushroom cloud and it looks very close. Everyone is running and screaming away from it, I start running too, but the cloud of radiation (on the ground) is too fast, and it reaches me. I think at that point, that was when I started to die, because the dream ended there.

I mean, wtf. that's just one fucked up dream. what gets me is how vivid it was....

um, discuss your craziest dreams, I guess.

Yeah I had a dream like that once. It was the worst, most depressing dream I ever had, and it just weighed me down for the rest of the day.

I was walking down a street going through an empty, charred plain, when some guy next to me was boasting how he'd survived "the first bomb" awhile ago. I said to him. "You're not invincible, man" and then there was another flash, and he was p. much obliterated in front of my eyes in slow-mo.

First time I ever zoomed in on someone to the atomic level in a dream, too.

Hahah, there's nowhere for me to even begin. I have the most bizarre twisted nightmares that literally have the feel of bad mushroom trips. I once dreamt that I was at my (ex)boyfriend's parent's house for dinner, and I started puking all over their clean carpets and white furniture, and I was stuck at their house puking constantly for two weeks straight, and it literally felt in my dream that two weeks had elapsed, until I woke up and realized it had only been a few hours. I had a dream pretty recently that I was still living with my parents and we lived on some farm or something, and all these Nazi munchkin creatures were appearing everywhere, killing all the animals and hanging them around the farm, and then they killed my parents and cut off their ears and noses and gouged out their eyes and left them in my room, and then they were coming after me. And this is just a small sample of the sort of nightmares I have when I sleep (maybe that's why I rarely sleep? haha). I could probably fill up a couple thousand pages just listing all of them.
On a related note, does anyone else ever wake up in what seems to be the middle of a dream, or where they're still partially dreaming (it's hard to explain) and they can't move for like, close to a minute? Like literally, can't move a muscle? And there's always a feeling like demons (or some other mythical "evil") are after you. I've only talked to one other person who knows what I'm talking about (a close friend), and she told me that growing up, her family always called it "devil's on your back". No one else seems to have experienced it..

I have ahd a nuclear attack dream as well.

i remember it taking place in the town i used to live in. i remember it vaguely now because it was so long ago. but what i remember was a dark, red atmosphere, trees were still and i was in a gazebo. i dont think i saw the mushroom cloud in my dream but i think it was implied. for some reason i was completely alone, even before the bomb. and the last moments of my dream were spent against the wall of the gazebo trying to protect myself from the bomb when it had finally detonated. then i woke up.

it was actually a peaceful dream for me. i felt nothingness in the last instant of my dream, but i do remember the feeling of panic for a bit, and being separated from this girl i had a crush on at the time.

Yes.

Interesting. I wasn't aware you could be awake and still be in your REM-paralysis.

Yes! That is exactly what I was talking about! I'd rep you for that, but I can't because it's chit chat. The beginning of the entry even says this: "ISP appears to be far more common and recurrent among people of African descent than among whites or Nigerian Africans",[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis#cite_note-Hersen.2C_Turner_2007_p._380-4) and is often referred to within African communities as "the Devil on your back."

The friend that I mentioned whose family calls it 'devils on your back' is from a family of African immigrants.

I feel less insane now :)

I have. Don't have nightmares much. But about a year ago I had a dream that I was an old man living in Brazil (don't ask me how I know it was Brazil) and I was walking around talking to people, but no one had the time to talk. Then I was by a dock where they launched theses futuristic cruise ships with electricity (the electricity pulses through the water at launch.) and as the were about to launch I just fell (jumped in) the water. Then it launched, the electricity hit me and I woke up unable to move.

Not having experienced that, but has anyone had such a realistic dream that the environment of the dream itself can wake you up by making you feel things for real. I mean, once I had a dream I was an elf (a folklore elf, not that LOTR shit) and I was chased by a tiger. Once the tiger cought me I was in so much pain that I woke up, still feeling the sting after waking.

Does anyone here occaisonally just feel absolute terror and start bellowing in fear just as they're drifting off?

On a related note, does anyone know why when I am up for long periods of time (22 hours or more) I am able to stay alert and awake when working yet as soon as I am done I begin to nod off again (not good because I have 15 miles to drive to get home). It also happens before I get to work, but once I get there I wake up, is it adrenaline or something?

A few months ago, I had a rather strange dream about a terrorist attack in London that killed 95 people. I'm not sure who carried it out, but in the dream I was watching news footage of the aftermath, and it looked like the attack was massive.

yep, its an common condition known as sleep paralysis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis), combined with your intense nightmares it sounds like you have an serious problem with you REM sleep and you might want to consult a doctor about it.

one in three people have this condition, its quite horrifying the first time, its like you are locked in in your own body.

accient christain folklore to explain sleep paralysis, this is how the myth of the succubus came to be

has anyone ever fallen asleep and woken up not being entirely sure what time of day it was?

I once fell asleep about 5 pm and woke up thinking id sleep right through the night, and no available clock to hand was in 24 hours. Turns out i'd only been asleep a couple of hours. It was during the winter so its just as dark in the mornings as it is in the evenings.

Not so much the sleeping experience, but that feeling of chronological ambiguity is also a headfuck.

I don't feel terror or start bellowing, but often think I hear a strange noise or see something unusual. It's supposed to be quite common to have such sensory experiences as you fall to sleep.

Might be night terrors. I've got a friend who's a big hulking beast of a guy and he went to sleep and just started fucking screaming. We woke him up and he just sort of rubbed his eyes and said "sup".

Or it might be something else. I know when I fall asleep I have the feeling that I'm about to fall over or something, sort like when you're about to go down a big drop on a roller coaster.

Could be. Although I'm generally aware of the bellowing.

I get that too, have done all my life and it's damned bizarre.

Dream topic sticky anyone?

anyways. i used to have the occasional night where as i doze off but never fall asleep, i would have some sort of sharp reflex and wake back up, sort of petrified by some unknown terror. i used to think ghosts were spooking me, but i dont really believe in ghosts... is there any sort of name for this? i would kind of like to read into it.

Only if we get rid of some of the other stickies. It's fucking ridiculous that we have so many.

Anybody ever get the experience when your sleeping of tripping/losing your balance and falling over? Seems to happen pretty often with me, wonder if any one else has this happen.
