I know there is no way of telling on here, but for some reason I get the impression that many of the posters are male.

Am I correct or am I a twit?

Unfortunately the board is predominantly male. This mainly because of the widespread sexism on this board, which for some reason is not cracked down like racism is, and ignored by a large majority. Many female members have been scared away by the chauvinistic attitudes and language held by many of the male "leftist" here.

Oh, this is just a crap. If there's sexism mods and admins ban you and the end of story.

There are no women here because they are to smart and they don't want to waste their time talking to stupid kids...

What sexism? I've always thought of Revleft as a quite sexism free board if anything.

Yes, i was wondering the same thing. Well i think there's several reasons. Some quite obvious ones is the fact that women are usually less involved in politics and Communism is usually not seen as a great alternative to a lot of women. Idk what the reasons of this last one is. But of the first one probably has to do with politics predominantly having been a male matter over the past couple a century's.

Edit: tbh it's hard to determine whether someone's male or female as well on a web-board. So an automatic assumption in the case of it being unclear is probably that that person is male. But thats psychologically. In the polls though it still usually shows that women are greatly outnumbered.

Oh yeah?

You're one of the most sexist members of the board, and I'm giving you an infraction for this, not only because of this comment in itself, but also because your behaviour on the board recently has been totally disruptive and disrespectful, e.g. spamming user groups.

Generally, there is a larger segment of males who don't have any life. A usual young male in the Western World spends about 3-5 hours with the computer. Left-wing activists IRL though tend to have a predominantly female base, as females are more likely to attain left-wing values.

Females are also generally using the internet to stay in touch, while males are using it to discuss on various forums.

I'm curious if these kinds of discussion boards are generally more male heavy. It is very strange that this website is so male-heavy.

Where I live it seems like the demographics are pretty evenly split between men and women in activist circles. There also seems to be a higher percentage of LGBT folks in activist circles here than in the general population. Racial demographics on the other hand are generally pretty terrible and segregated in California - probably due to a combination of ruling class attacks on people of color which has lead to pessimism in regards to fighting racism as well as the weakness of the left and the acceptance of identity politics and NGO-style organizing.

Where I'm from, the left-wing has a rather high percentage of women compared to men (i'd say, 65% women), but as it gets more radical the percentages change. (I know very few women who'd call themselves communist).

This is not sexist, this is something I've noticed in my enviroment. To be quite honest, I am sexist in this opinion: of the people I know who are into politics, the women tend to be far more interested and talented in the practical things while the men are busy calling each other names and waging sectarian wars on internet-fora.

This is true, but there exist some hyper-feminists who take gender issues beyond all logic and reason.

The part about women having lives is no more true than it is for men. Women not having lives just manifests itself differently than with men. Besides, even you mentioned how women tend to use computers for different purposes and with different means, and this is what I think is behind revleft male majority.

I also take it badly to load that observation with your personal oppinion on what "real life" is.

yea, damn man I hate when people told me in the bus yesterday I should not pay so much, I guess I'm just lucky as well, BTW the bus driver was a woman so i can say that this was actually quiete and experience since the guy i was sitting besides was like 95. he told me weird stuff all around the bus trip and i went outside yesterday, he said he was leftwing, and the woman was properly member of the bus-union. out from this i conclude that 100 of the leftwing is woman and man, or it could perhabs just be a lucky incidence.

Sorry, I don't understand what you're getting at. Are you comparing Panda receiving an infraction with you having to pay a lot to take the bus? I can only recommend that you buy a bike.

what i was saying is that all this whole forum, and left wing is filled with sexist scum, and i get really mad every time i stumble across them. we have to clean the left up again from all this chauvinist and sexists, expell and remove all those who dare to step outside to the cold right.
and by the road i already have a bike, its just sometime to cool to take the bike, so i drive the bus to my friends house.

I don't think that Panda is sexist on purpose I think that he's just stupid teen. Many male leftists are actually sexists because they are in puberty and they think that they are cool. They should be schooled.

Well it's odd a mod apparently knows of this supposed sexism but he never did anything about it.
If you ask me it's pure slander. (which is the only reason I'm fucking over the topic, my apologies to the OP)
