Stalin was a counter revolutionary, and in that he continued what Lenin started, as would Trotsky given the chance. From the moment the Bolshevik party came to power it acted to repress really revolutionaries and institute state capitalism. This didn't happen because the Bolsheviks where bad people, but because there methods where in compatible with archiving socialism.
