...alone and with a DVD player, what three books and three movies would you want to have?

I haven't made up my mind yet, but want to see what other folks have thought of.

I'm assuming i get a TV and access to a power supply as well otherwise the dvd player is pretty redundant.

can i trade the dvd player for my PS3? Just let me play CoD:WaW online indefinitely and i'd be a happy bunny.

I would take Rush Hour trilogy on DVD, just for laughs. As for books, I'd probably have to go with 1984, Animal Farm, and Homage to Catalonia, not to read them of course, but just in case I ever run out of firewood before dying a lonesome desert island death.

;)

Hmm... I guess three really big books, like "The World in Good Detail, volumes 1-3" which I can build a raft from, and three really high quality DVD's to make cutting tools with.

Alone on an island... :crying:

As rise like lions noted, it is with a portable dvd player and you have enough battery supply to last a life time.

can i trade the dvd player for my PS3?

Nope.

Yeah, it's funny because the black guy and the Chinese guy make racist stereotypes of one another.

As for the question itself, my books would be Journey to the End of the Night by Louis-Ferdinand Céline, Dubliners by James Joyce and The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut. I don't really have favorite films. Could I opt to take my favorite albums instead?

Only if they're music videos

If I were alone on a desert island with only a DVD player and three DVDs and three books of my choice, I would wonder how the fuck that happened

(i would wonder where the fuck i'm going to buy extra batteries for this portable dvd player).

Eh... your plane might have crash landed.

There you go, now the thread has a bit of back story. :D

Books: Definitely Les Miserables, then For Whom the Bell Tolls, and the anthology of the works of Lord Byron I own. (as I doubt I could fine an anthology that would include only the poets I like)

DVDs: The Dreamer and The Edukators. The only two movies I can think of that I've seen a million times and still enjoy. I would also bring a box set of the new series of Doctor Who.

I'd trade two highly expensive DVDs for a Sega CDX and some games.

That'll be all.
