You must have been a more creative and free-spirited child than I was. I always built whatever it was supposed to be per the instructions, but then I would always get rid of it and make up my own stuff. I even once submitted a picture of something I built, I think it was a huge ship, to that lego kids magazine they used to send out for free. They never published it though :crying:

Aye, when I were a lad we had to make our own entertainment. I spent my formative years making scale models of boats with my toenails.

I am serious.

That shit is expensive. I am not saying I grew up poor, my family moved up to what could be consider the labor aristocracy. My family could afford but were not willing to spend alot of money on toys.

But in my experience, lego was only fun if you had alot of it. The kids I knew who had alot of lego were either rich kids, spolit or both.

I think this is how to spot an anarchist at an early age.
I made my lego into death camps for political dissenters and kulaks, anarchist hippies like bcbm probably just made pretty patterns or started to build a set then stopped half way thru to chase the butterfly that came into his vision

I wasn't aware people bought lego except on an intellectual level. I generally got lego when the kids of one of my parents' mates outgrew it. I'm sure somewhere down the line someone must have actually purchased itbut I don't know when or how.

Panda Tse Tung

We always mixed them up. fo the lulzz. But if i recall correctly the size of both buckets was equal.

edit: also, you don't need much lego for it to be fun. Thats where creativity drops in. Nobody cares your house was blue-red-green-yellow, and had no roof. lol. You don't need a roof to play with it anyway.

oh my god! also my favourit legos, the top one i allways wanted and my leisure home had it but all the kids in there allways ruined it and destroyed it so one day i stole the pirate captain, and i lied to my mom saying i got it from my cousin.
actually i never played with lego with my friends, i was very asocial when playing with legoes i only wanted to play with them with my cousins.
when i grew older i started to make LEGO MOVIES! i made about 4 episodes with one of them inclouding a lego race, it all happened either in a city, with small stories of bank robberies and dialogs etc etc. it was alot of fun.

fuck im a pour(exept that i live in a appartment of 200 square meters) and not spoiled.

really? thats disgusting, i made my own toys too, of cardboard i fabricated roman legionair costumes and me and my friends fought against each other with them, (i invented a smart helmet design easy to make) i later also made mouse staircases of paper and made them into soldiers (painted faces on them and so on) me and my friends made tanks, cars and weapons for them, in the end we made big houses and forst out of paper, we where even going to build a big battle cruiser. but we never started, in the end we had about an army of 100 mouse staircase-soldiers. but then we burnt them haha, i gave most of the stuff away.

my favoried legos were the technic ones. those ones you could make little plastic machines out of.
i just LOVED making shit move. i made a working rudamentary transmission hooked up to the motor and a fan blade. one of my crowning achievements of my legohood. 3 speeds too!

as for the bricks, i either made structures, or guns. when i was 13 i made a fully modular AK-47 wanna be out of various mismatched pieces. it was bad ass.

god, i lived legos.

my most ambitious project was trying to make those little engine pieces with the pistions and everything move by using the pressure form baking soda and water... those pieces are still crusty from the byproduct. it was a failure but it was SO FUN!

i know i sound a bit arrogant but seriously. i LOVED legos.
