Hi everyone... I've watched these forums and this site for a while, but never really thought of registering for the forums. I'm leftist and interested particularly in Ché, Jello Biafra, Mumia Abu-Jamal and a few others. Just introducing myself.

Hi, welcome. Just out of curiosity (sorry if I should already know this), who's Jello Biafra?

Hi, welcome. Just out of curiosity (sorry if I should already know this), who's Jello Biafra?

Jello Biafra was the singer of the punk-band Dead Kennedys (http://www.alternativetentacles.com/bandinfo.php?band=deadkennedys&[email protected]). After that he released a lot of spoken word material, ran for some office with the green party, and still made music... (Lard (http://www.alternativetentacles.com/bandinfo.php?band=lard&[email protected]) and The no WTO combo (http://www.alternativetentacles.com/bandinfo.php?band=nowtocombo&[email protected]) for example).

He's very active in the anti-censorship movement, also i think "Frankenchrist" by the Dead Kennedys was one of the first CDs to be banned....or they tried it at least. He's a funny guy too.

So did he sing "I Wanna be a Drug Sniffing Dog?"

One of my roommates listens to that stuff.

Yeah, that was a dead kennedys song i believe. The dead kennedys members sued jello (lead singer) for "lack of promotion" because he wouldnt let them put their song "holiday in cambodia" in a levis commercial... basically pissed on everything they ever stood for.. jello is the only one who's still a loyal leftist and he still puts out spoken word albums once in a while. He's working on a book right now, it will be out in july, called "Mob Action Against The State", you should check it out if you want to learn more about him. Also try downloading some of his speeches, hes a very good orator. I reccomend his "Keynote" speech given at the H2K Hackers Convention a year or two ago.
