In the Church of St. Olga, icon was placed. It is depicting Joseph Stalin and Blessed Matrona of Moscow. As legend has it, Stalin would visit her on a regular basis to ask her advice on whether Moscow should be defended against Fascists. Father Evstafy of St. Olga's believes Stalin to be one of the fathers of the country "no matter how bad he was."

Interestingly, these are 2 comments people posted on you tube, I don't know the truth :

Stalin wasn't atheist. He was baptised Orthodox Christian and never was expelled from th hurch (anathemized).
Nor did he denounce his religion.

Stalin never said he was atheist. After his death the Russian Church served a religious service - this acknoledging him a Christian (and a great one indeed).

Stalin NEVER proclaimed himself to be atheist (unlike Lenin who was 100% atheist and materialst).

When Soviet Russia was under the threat of German invasion he ordered observance of certain Russian Orthodox rituals. BTW, he also restored Moscow Patriarchy - something the whole dynasty of the Romanovs could do during their 2300 year reign.

Stalin made three Orthodox confessions throughout his life - all of them between 1941 and his death.

He'd be up there with Saint Nicholas the Passion-Bearer, also known as Tsar Nicholas II.

Which is why he constantly persecuted all religions and believers: destroying churches, and killing priests. LOL. What next? Stalin was a social democrat or an anarchist?

Could Josef Stalin be made a saint?

If the Russian Orthodox Church does so this would be the second time he's been made a saint.

Stalin should be granted title of Savior.

He pulled 120 million peasants out of the Middle Ages. What did Jesus do? He sent whole of Europe into centuries of Church absolutism which we call the Middle Ages.

What Christ did is unimportant, I guess, if you ignore the profound effect the Christian revolution had on all facets of life up until the present.

Christianity did not bring about the Middle Ages, Drace, it simply came of age during that period between the end of Antiquity (Egypt, Greece & Rome) and the Renaissance.

Beg, borrow or steal an illustrated book on the history of Europe. You won't be bored, I promise.

P.S. Stalinist authoritarianism rapidly brought large segments of the Russian peasantry into the 20th Century at an enormous cost in human suffering, most of it involuntary.

He pulled 120 million peasants out of the Middle Ages.

And delibrately starving to death millions of peasents. Did Jesus ever do that?

What three miracles did he perform?

1.) Destroying the popular understanding and meaning of socialism
2.) Murdering large swaths of dissenters
3.) Making a pact with Nazi Germany
