El Commandante

No offence to American's, especially the ones on the board, but the majority don't know where Canada is, what do you expect?!?!

Belgium makes nice beer though, uuuuum!

Moskitto

I've never tried Belgian beer, but I do like really cheap imported Dutch beer.

mmmm

Welcome.

El Commandante

Belgian beer is good, nice and rich, I hate American beer though, tastes of chemicals and is pretty rubbish really.

Beer, mmmm.

I always thought most American-made things were quite rubbish. American engineering has been the butt of quite a few Simpsons' jokes.

El Commandante
18th December 2001, 20:47
Isn't America the butt of most jokes, their cars, their beers, their politicians, most things about them are laughable.

Isn't America a joke that has gone to far?

(No offence to our american residents here, you go against the common trend)

Moskitto
18th December 2001, 21:24
I like the Simpsons, but most of the other stuff they make sucks.

On the 100 greatest TV programs (on British TV) it said that the Simpsons points a big finger at the American way of life with some of it's jokes. hmmm.

welcome to the board.

just thought you should know this isn't an american board. malte (the guy who runs the board) is german. and in fact most of the members aren't american anymore.

second with regards to the US not knowing about canada its true. some of my experiences in the US (in large cities like chicago and washington DC)

Q: where are you from?
P: near Toronto
Q: Toronto?
P: Its in Ontario.
Q: Ontario?
P: Ontario Canada.
Q: oh yeah that big state above us!

Oh you're from Canada. Thats where everyone parlez vous francais isn't it? (for those of you who don't speach freanch, it says that's where everyone speaks french isn't it?)

in the middle of june in chicago.
"OH you're Canadians, how's the weather up there?"
A: yeah well we had a little bit of trouble getting the dogs out of the igloo today but we finally made it.
Q: oh really. that's interesting.

anway, i'm ranting.

welcome to the board!

I know it's going against the grain here,But you should try Henry Weinhard's private reserve beer,it's not bad,and it's american. But it's not as good as Hoegaarden,I mean,I couldn't live in Belgium and not be an alcoholic.Good job I don't.Been to Antwerpen for a couple of long weekends, had a good time there....anyway welcome!

Nickademus,I can't believe the americans don't take more interest in their Natural Resource Reserves....i.e.Canada

here another amusing story. we have a television show here call "this hour has 22 minutes" its a political comody show and they do a skit called talking to american which show how ignorant the US are. one was asking americans what canada should use as a symbol on their flag because they are just about to get one. another was asking americans if they thought there was an educational crisis in canada because 90% of canadians can't point out their own state on an unmarked map of canada. all of them, including a professor from YALE said yes. well first of all canada doesn't have states, it has provinces and territories. second of all, its 90% of americans who can't point out their own state on an unmarked map of the US. lol.

dutch is cool.
yesterday, a friend took me to his girlfriends family and she has a really awsome family.
anyway, then i made some dutch jokes without knowing that the families roots are dutch.
it was a lot of fun though.

Hey. CORONA (means "crown" in Spanish) is Mexican. I'm American and I know where Belgium is.. In fact, I think I've been there. I used to live in West Germany when I was a tiny little one and we travelled a lot. I KNOW I've been to Luxembourg, so I'm sure I've been to Belgium... Yeah! My mom got a waffle maker there! I shit you not! I swear!

 Could you please pass me some maple syrup?

Taj
3rd January 2002, 17:17

Sasafrás

There are much worse cases than Belgium. I havent talked to anybody who has even HEARD of Andorra, much less know that its a small country between France and Spain. Its an awsome place too. Ive been there a few times.

CommieBastard
18th January 2002, 16:13
ah, well, i am studying geography, and a year ago i made a special case of reading up on the really small countries of the world..
i know a fair bit about andorra..
founded by a spanish bishop and a french count in about the 14th century wasnt it?
and also v.big on tourism arent they?
not the smallest country, but it comes close :)

El Brujo
19th January 2002, 01:13
Yeah. It is a very interesting country and is pretty big on tourism. It even has its own rugby and football/soccer teams (though they are horrible). I think the smallest country in the world is either the Vatican or a country called Tuvalu (a small island in oceania).

CommieBastard
19th January 2002, 14:09
I'm fairly certain it's the vatican city state.

Moskitto
19th January 2002, 17:21
yeah it's The Vatican Holy Se.
