A film on tonight on channel 4 about how mixed race people are better than non mixed race people.
So what does everyone think about this argument.
I personally think this programme is being racist towards us people that are not mixed race and i have no choice of who we are.
Channel 4 have been showing controversial race programmes all week.
Did anyone see the last programme, it was called how racist are you?
They pretended to discriminate against blue eyed people.
In it they told the blacks to act and be white, what the hell is that supposed to mean, what is acting white exactly, she than also accused white people of being racist in the womb.
Iam gay and if i heard a person tell someone to act gay i would scratch their eyes out.

Who knows. Usual "cutting-edge controversial research" channel 4 overhyped shitejunk, don't worry about it I say, what race you are makes no difference to how "good" you are.

The great thing about being a mixed race is that you'll be accepted by everyone! Oh, wait... scratch that. The program that you described seems to be focused on mongering the race issue, not promoting tolerance.

It's quite irrelevant actually. Simply put it's the best, and worst, of both worlds.

Genetic diversity, it's a good thing.
Its not a good thing or a bad thing, its a normatively neutral thing. Genetics don't contain an internal teleology except that which humans attribute to it.

To add to the above, there is a tendency within "secular humanists" and fans of the enlightement project to make science teleological. From some marxists and anarchists, to liberals, they treat science as having some purpose in some sort of grand teleological project.

it could be argued that if mixed race conceptions were encouraged, eventually racial differences would be too ambiguous to notice, effectively eliminating racism purely through biology.
Just a thought.

I have to ask, what sort of question is this? I mean, it can be a good question if it was compared to something. It is like trying to tell if you are moving with no reference point.
You can say that (As Dr.Mindbender above has) maybe in the long term if everyone is mixed race, there would be no racism, or that certain genetic qualities that are more prominent in a certain population(I make no claims that race has biological character) commonly refered to as 'black', 'asian', 'white' or something then maybe you could get 'the best of both worlds', but really in the end you have to have a criteria of best or compare it to something.
Really, its like saying something is moving and having absolutely nothing to compare it to.

Racial differences are imagined. I will post a lecture by Ghassan Hage which talks about the imaginary of races in the discrimination forum. He talks about the distribution of racial imagine, for instance, an Arab ear, a Jewish nose, Persian eyes etc. define ones race. This could exist even after everyone appears to look racially the same.
People often get this if there is something a bit different from the normal dominant culture. For instance just the other week a guy who I don't know was invited into my house and saw I had a sheesha/hookah, he went on to ask what my ethnicity was, because he "saw" some "colouring" in my skin. I am white as the next guy, my arms are a bit tanned, and I have no connection through ancestry or appearance to Middle Eastern or Southern Asian people. This guy imagined ethnicity purely by the foriegn object I own.
As long as unequal distribution and control of resources exist, the imaginary of races will continue to exist to create some mythology of that inequality. For instance Rwandans imagined a racial difference, North Irelandes do the same, Yugaslavians etc.
Race will fail to exist when real economic and political differences fail to exist, even if we all look different.

You mean, you people who delude themselves believing there is something like "not mixed race".
(Yes, it is better to be mixed race; it means you exist...)

Your value as a human being is directly proportional to your skin color.
Now, how you quantify the various color tones is up to you.

As I see it, "race" is a pretty invalid concept, certain genes correspond to certain areas of the globe perhaps, I don't know a lot about that, but I'm certain that no one race is better than another even on a biological level, I don't subscribe to their being a scientific reason behind the idea of "race". So I see no way whatsoever that one can be physically "better" for being mixed race, either. I assume we're talking entirely personally, rather than socially, but even then "goodness" is pretty well subjective, so this whole concept seems bizarre to me.

Should it matter if it is better to be Non mixed or mixed? I don't think that it should matter if it better or not to be mix race because, guess what. If you 're mix with Black,White, and etc. The race that a person is racist against is still gonna to be racist towards you because you are mix with the other race that he/ahe or anybody else hate. People who are mix race have a hard time coming to term with which race they are. They don't know either they should called themselves this or that. When the answer is clearly, they just mix and that what they should say. they neither black or white or Chinese or etc, They just mix. but we can never understand how it like to be mixed race because we never have to deal with that.

Racial differences are imagined.
.
I think that races exist, the question at hand is how much it actually matters socially.
When you donate blood or bone marrow, they ask you to define your race. I guess thats for a reason.
